The girl shivers, not uttering a single word.
How are you, Kairi?
She played with her hair, gradually rocking back and fourth as if she was enjoying her silent treatment.
Kairi, answer me! How are you today?
A smile tugged at her lips, but stayed silent.
Kairi . . .Can you tell me why your here today?
She opened her mouth, but hastily closed it. She looked down at her shoes, not daring to say a word. She had a secret. An utmost terrible secret. And I wanted to know.
Ok Kairi, what happened? If you know what, nod.
She frowned, but nodded slowly.
What happened? Do you know?
Another nod.
Can you tell me?
That similar smile tugged at her lips, but this time she couldn't resist it. She smiled; more like smirked, and put her hands behind her back.
Tell me!
She smiled, even larger than the one before. A devil-ish smile, I thought. I decided to take my chances. I brought a heartless into the room. It was contained in a metal cage.
Kairi stopped smiling. She stopped rocking. She just stared. Staring at the Shadow. Hands behind her back, eyes showing pure terror.
Kairi, do you want to see this heartless?
She shook her hear vigorously, her hair flying all over the place. Her hands, still behind her back.
Kairi? Can I see your hands?
Kairi looked behind, at her hands. Her facial expression didn't change, but she nodded a 'no' nevertheless.
Let me see your hands!
She swiftly stood up, hands still behind. She threw the chair, and it almost rammed into the heartless inside the cage. She had no expression, but her eyes displayed only fear.
Kairi, Come here!
She backed up slowly, into the wall. She looked at me, then at the heartless, then at her hands. She smiled. I walked over to her. I would go easy on her.
Kairi? May I please see your hands?
She smiled back, and cocked her head to the side. I grabbed her arms, showing her hands. They were bursting of deep crimson blood. I gasped, a horrifying sight indeed. She frowned but it twisted into hate. She ran to the heartless cage, shaking it.
Does that heartless has something to do with it?
Kairi shook it a few times more.
What happened?
Kairi showed no expression. She just shook the cage. Shook it with such force, she did. The heartless inside was bobbing up and down every time she did. Suddenly, the heartless stopped breathing. It stopped altogether. Kairi then too stopped moving, hitting the floor with great force, causing a sickening thud.
I walked over to her. She wasn't breathing. I checked her pulse. I found nothing.
But of course . . .
The girl was dead.
