A poem I wrote for a Literature project which talks about Chiyo's encounter with the Chairman and ends when him and Sayuri confess their love in the Ichiriki.

Kindness Of A Stranger

Ripped away from the land where she grew up

To the land of luxury, sweat, and lust

To be educated and manipulated

Just for money and her owners' delight.

Competing against the most striking beauty,

Away from her only remaining blood

Tough life, tough hearts, they say

But it's not as easy as it sounds.

Her wings torn off,

Her dreams shed away,

Silently she cries,

As dawn announces a new Kyoto day.

Blue-gray eyes,

Starting to cry,

All alone in a world

Of closed roads and dead ends.

Her world seems to shatter,

Her hopes seem to fade,

Her life no longer matters,

Her happiness is drawn away.

But a stranger with his kindness,

A gentleman who is well-known,

With just some words of encouragement,

Make her want her life to go on.

Those startling blue-gray eyes,

As dazzling as a valley in spring,

Leave their print in the man's life,

As he leaves on the girl his own life-long print.

When her life had been falling down,

When nobody had even stopped to help her,

When she seemed to be crumbling from the inside,

The Chairman and his kindness had come to aid her.

That little girl with blue-gray eyes,

Once ailing by the riverside,

Now sits in front of the man,

Who unexpectedly changed her life.

A geisha and a Chairman,

Softly talking about a moment in their lives,

That moment in which they had first met,

In which they had first entered into each other's heart.

And thanks to the kindness of a stranger,

A young woman found again her hopes, her dreams, and her ones beloved,

And so fortunately for them both,

This story ends with held hands,

A kiss,

And a promise of their love.
