She sat on the bed, unmoving, eyes clouded as her mind replayed the memory over and over. She had cried herself dry, and she felt so.. dead. He was all that mattered to her, and now that he was gone, she felt as though she had died as well. That last memory of him still haunted her, and she could do nothing to but relive it over and over again.

The spikes were raining down onto the battlefield, and she could only watch as he threw himself in front of his cousin, protecting her from the onslaught. She could only watch as he slumped on Naruto's shoulder, the seal on his forehead slowly disappearing as he took his last breaths.

She felt cold, so dreadfully cold, she felt as though time had stopped. She shakily got to her feet, not even remembering when she had fallen to her knees. She dragged herself to Neji, pulling his body from Naruto into her own arms, tears falling, she held him tight.

"I.. I'm sorry, Tenten, I couldn't keep my promise. I.. I'm really sorry." Neji coughed, struggling to speak.

Tenten smiled at him through her tears, and hugged him as best as she could. "It's alright, I understand, Neji. Sleep well. I'll see you when I will."

She held him as he took his last breath, a smile on his face as he left. The battle was still raging on, but that didn't seem so important now. Her love was gone, and that was all that had mattered.

She was dead, she died the moment he closed his eyes forever.
