Bella smiled blandly. It was another normal day in her fantastic life—or death. Whatever. She and her amazingly perfect husband, Edward, were having a wonderful vacation. It was rather dull, but this way she could stare at her darling Edward, gleaming in the sunlight, without being spotted. However, she didn't have much else to do out here. There wasn't a tv, or even a computer. She had to content herself with Edward and her extensive wardrobe.
She heard a door slam, and she turned to see Edward. He was so flawless, a marble statue of perfection. Skipping forward, she threw her arms around his neck.
"How are you, Eddypoo?" she asked.
"All right. How's the kid doing?"
"I dunno, haven't heard from her lately. She's fine, I'm sure. She's too perfect for anyone to harm her."
"I know, I know. Would—"
"Oh, wait! I just remembered!" Bella dashed off, back to the bedroom to retrieve something.
When she came back out, she was wearing an outlandish blue dress that appeared to be covered in glitter.
"What do you think? I just remembered I packed it."
"It's . . . lovely. It—It really suits you." Edward was a little disappointed that Bella had turned out to be so dull. All she cared about was her daughter, her precious 'Eddypoo' (oh, how he hated that nickname), and her giant collection of clothing.
"I know! It's fantastic. Alice found it for me. It was on sale for 60% off at-- Oh, wait, were you saying something?"
"Would you like to go for a walk? I wouldn't mind hunting a bit."
"All right! Let me get my shoes!" She walked back into the bedroom, then came back out with a matching pair of stilettos.
"Bella, dear? Those aren't terribly practical."
"So?"
Edward sighed. She had seemed like an amusing little pet to keep around, a stupid little human to play with so long ago, but he hadn't realized exactly how stupid. "Never mind. Let's go."
They both walked out in the forest. Light bounced off their glittering skin, making them look like disco balls. Edward was glancing around in search of prey, but Bella was just staring into Edward's perfect, golden eyes. They were the most gorgeous color she had ever seen. Almost drooling, she skipped ahead, humming faintly. Edward rolled his eyes. What was wrong with this girl? And he, a vampire, was doing whatever she wanted. When she wanted a baby, he gave her a baby. When she wanted to become a vampire, he allowed her to become a vampire. It was sickening; he should have been in charge, with her doing whatever he wanted, not the other way around. As he listened to her murmur something about how wonderful everything was, an idea struck him.
What if he started hunting humans again? It had been such fun, really, and he wasn't sure why he had stopped. Certainly, it was much better than this life of shopping and vacations. It was so dull. But hunting humans, being a real vampire? That was exciting. That was real. Human blood was so much better than that of any animal. It was so flavorful. . .
Without looking back, he disappeared into the forest.
