Hello and welcome to The Trash Files, a compilation of stories that I have scrapped, half-written, or have made remakes of the originals. This here is RWBY Volume 1- The Reapers, my first foray into RWBY Fanfiction. Slight warning; you will see a Gary Stu-esque character, bad writing and overall half-made ideas about what I thought it was about. Some character will be OOC as I didn't know how they acted and such.
I think this was written when I watched the first Chapter of Volume 1, and as such, I didn't know much about the world of Remnant. There will be mistakes about Remnant, Vale, and Beacon Academy.
Now, onto the first chapter of RWBY The Reapers:
I walked to From Dust Till Dawn to buy some more Yellow Dust, since I was running out of some to use for my Electrick Grenades and Bullets. I walked into the store and nodded at the shopkeeper and walked over to the tube that held Lighting Dust Powder and filled up one of the bottles that they had there. When it was filled I went to the counter and paid for it then went over to the book/magazine section and picked up a weapons magazine, seeing what new weapons that they made. I noticed that there was someone else in this area and I nodded to them. I belatedly realized it was Ruby Rose, a classmate of mine at Signal Academy. Either she was too wrapped up in the weapons magazine or didn't want to acknowledge me, she didn't nod back at me, if it was the latter, it might've been something to do with what happened our first year there. Meh, we became friends after.
Anyway, I was finishing up reading the magazine, no new weapons, and I heard a commotion in the front of the store. I put the magazine up and peeked across one of the shelves, I saw it was someone in a white trench coat and had red-orange hair, with a bowler hat, and was walking with a cane. Those features, I thought, I've seen them somewhere before. Oh! It's Roman Torchwick!
I hid behind one of the shelves when one of his four henchmen came over to steal some Lightning Dust Powder, but stopped as he saw Ruby, and heard her music, it was that loud. "C'mon kid," He said as he pulled out his sword, "Put your hand where I can see 'em." He paused for her to put her hands up, but saw that she didn't hear him and he commanded louder than last time, "Hey, I said hand in the air!"
I heard footsteps approaching where I was and saw the henchman walk over to Ruby and grab her shoulder while saying, "You got a death wish or somethin'?"
"Huh?" Ruby said smartly, turning around her hood falling down, revealing black hair with a bit of red at the ends, and silver eyes.
The henchman pointed at his head, most likely signaling for Ruby to take off her headphones, she did so asking, "Yes?"
"I said, Put your hands in the air. Now!" I was restraining laughter at how Ruby was so easily angering the Henchman.
"Are you robbing me?" She asked hesitantly and disbelievingly.
"Yes!" the henchman almost yelled.
"Oh." Ruby simply said, before punching the guy to the front of the store. I stood up at this point and saw that another one was coming for Ruby, she knocked this one out the front window, riding him.
I followed her out the window and stood next to her as she got out her Sniper-Scythe. I pulled out my Pistols, less fancy but will do the job, and slammed them into sniper mode. She did her frightening tactic, where she flipped her Scythe and landed it into the ground, her headphones in her right hand. I stood there with my sniper at the ready. She turned her headphones off before Torchwick drawled out, "Okay. Get her!"
The remaining henchmen came out the door and went after Ruby, seeing her as the more dangerous target, not that I minded, she attacked the first one to get to her, spinning on her scythe and hitting him in the face, and launching him back into the store, I shot him so I could by Ruby some time. She landed on her feet, the barrel of the Sniper part of the Sniper-Scythe pointed at the two remaining henchmen and fired, spin hitting one and sending him up into the air, and smashing the other, the one that was hit into the shop came back out, and fired his gun at her, she dodged by using her Sniper-Scythe and came back at him sliding under him, causing him to be launched into the air. She spun on her scythe and hit him in the air with it, making him land at Roman Torchwick's feet, as he came out to watch.
While Ruby was fighting the three henchmen, I was fighting my own opponents that had snuck upon us. I fired my sniper at them, but then I noticed that they were too close for sniping, so I switched it to the single pistol, and shot it at them, causing them to get electrocuted, and fell unconscious. I pulled it out of the single pistol to the dual pistol as they came 'round. I switched the bullets to kill, and shot them as they ran at me. I heard someone screaming and turned around to see Roman Torchwick come out.
"You were worth every cent, truly you were." He muttered before speaking up looking at Ruby, "Well Red, I think we can all say it's been an eventful evening, and as much as I'd love to stick around, I'm afraid this is where we part ways." He pulled up his cane as he was speaking and a hatch lifted up on it, revealing it as a gun. As he finished he shot it at Ruby, launching her up into the air, as she landed on her feet, confusion evident on her face, as she looked for Torchwick.
I holstered my pistols and yelled, "Up there," pointing up at the fire escape on the side of a building that Torchwick was climbing, she didn't say anything to me, but to the shopkeeper that looked out the door at that instant,
"You okay if I go after him?" He just grunted an assent, before Ruby ran towards the fire escape.
I looked at him and said, "Sorry 'bout the window." He just waved me off, before I, too, ran at the fire escape and climbed up it, I didn't see Ruby on it so I thought she might be at the top already.
I got there in time to see a Bullhead fly up out of the alley and hover next to the roof and see Torchwick climb up into it, as it rose he yelled at Ruby, "End of the line, Red!" and threw a Burn Dust Crystal at Ruby's feet and shoot it, laughing as it exploded.
"Ruby!" I yelled in panic, running towards her, before seeing a woman there, a purple shield in front of her, before it faded.
I saw a look of panic cross Torchwick's face before the woman fired purple missiles, out of her stick that she held, hitting the hovercraft. I arranged my Pistol-Sniper into the sniper configuration shot it several times before I had to reload. By the time I had it reloaded, it was already moving and the woman from before shot a spell/missile into the sky, making dark clouds appear and hail strike the ship at her command.
I saw another person walk onto the deck and start firing fire at the woman. I stood in awe, unable to move, as a full-fledged Huntress and a mysterious person fight. The first attack missed, but the aftermath caused it to explode, the Huntress dodged expertly and made the shards of the roof gather together in a rod and launch at the ship, the person on the ship shot fire at it causing it to break apart, but it reformed and launched at the ship again, but the one controlling it tilted it on its side, making the attack slide off, but it reformed into three separate lines and attack it at different sides. Inside the ship, I saw the person stumble, and then I realized it was a woman. She used something to make the shards burn to ashes. Ruby then broke out of her shock to configure her Scythe into the gun launcher and shoot at the woman, but she blocked each one and sent her own attack at them, causing the ground to glow and explode, but before Ruby and the Huntress could get hurt, she launched Ruby forward and jumped forward herself, landing on her feet, and Ruby landing on her side.
I ran over to Ruby and asked if she was okay, she nodded before she got up and looked at the retreating ship. Once it was gone, Ruby looked at the Huntress and stated, "You're a Huntress." Before going full fan-girl and asking, "Can I have your autograph!" I facepalmed. Hard.
We were in an Interrogation room, one light above the metal table that had one metal chair that Ruby was sitting in, I didn't take it because I am a gentleman. The Huntress from before was pacing in front of us. Ruby was looking down at the table, as the Huntress berated, "I hope your actions tonight will not be taken lightly, young lady, young man." I nodded at this. Ruby was still looking at the table, "You put yourself and others in great danger."
Ruby butted in at this, "They started it!"
"If it were up to me," The Huntress continued, like Ruby hadn't said anything, "You would be sent home, with a pat on the back," Ruby looked happy, "and a slap on the wrist." The Huntress said harshly, slapping her stick on the table startling Ruby, electing a small "eep!" from her. I smirked amusedly at this, the Huntress looked at me and said, "You aren't getting out of this, so wipe that smirk off your face."
I lifted my hand and dragged it across my mouth, like I was wiping it, and reset my face to a neutral look, amusement still shining in my Brown eyes.
The Huntress continued, "But, there is someone here who would like to meet you two." She finished, annoyed.
A man walked in through the only door, carrying a plate of cookies in his right hand, a mug in the other. When he came into the light I saw he was wearing different shades of green, "Ruby Rose, Alexandrite Blue. You," he dragged out, "Have silver eyes." He said looking into Ruby's eyes.
Ruby just stuttered at this, "U- um." While I muttered, "The name is Alec, not Alexandrite."
The man continued, "So, where did you learn to do this?" He asked nodding his head at the video shown of Ruby attacking the henchmen.
"S- Signal Academy," She stuttered.
"They taught you to use one of the most dangerous weapons designed?!" he asked, incredulous and maybe a bit angry.
"Well, one teacher in particular." Ruby looked a bit abashed at this.
"I see." The man simply stated, nodding. He then put the plate of cookies down, sliding it towards Ruby. She picked one up hesitantly, eating it, looking at them, seeing if they minded.
I smirked again, saying, "Chocolate-chip cookies, Ruby's weakness." She glared at me, while stuffing another cookie in her face. I had to restrain my laughter at this.
The man looked at me, saying, "Alexandrite Blue. Heir to the Blue Dust Foundation."
My good humor vanished and I scowled, "Nineteen hells, I don't want to be known to be related to that."
"Why not?" he asked.
"Because, I want to be known for me, not some company that my granddad started." I explained, annoyed.
"I see." He simply said, then turned back to Ruby who was finished by now. "It's just that I've seen one other Scythe Wielder of that skill before, a dusty old Crow."
"Ohmpf, that's my uncle, mmpf." She said through a full mouth
I leaned over and smacked the back of her head, "Don't talk with your mouth full." I admonished, it was like I was with a nine-year old. Considering Ruby, it kinda was.
She glared at me then swallowed and cleared her throat, "Sorry," she said to the man, who had a look of disgust on his face, "That's my Uncle Qrow. He's a teacher at Signal." She added as an afterthought, "I was complete garbage until he took me under his wing, and now I'm all like," and she swung her arms around, almost hitting me in the stomach, making 'whchaa' sounds.
"So I've noticed." The man said, then sat down, "and what and adorable girl, such as yourself," I snorted at this, "doing at a school designed to train warriors?"
"I've wondered that myself." I said, looking at her interestedly, to see what her answer was.
It wasn't long coming, "Well, I want. to be. a Huntress." She said, punctuating every other word.
"And what about you?" he asked me.
I just shrugged my shoulders, "Dad forced me to, but now it's fun. I don't really care if I don't become a Hunter. All I'm in it is for the kicks and giggles."
"Hmm. So you want to slay monsters." The man said, looking back at Ruby.
"Yeah. I only have two more years of training left at Signal and then I'm going to apply to Beacon." She said dreamily. The man looked at me.
"Same as Ruby, two more years, and then dad might force me to go to Beacon." I said dispassionately.
Ruby continued, "Uh, see my sister's starting there this year, and she's trying to become a Huntress, a-and I wanna become a huntress 'cause I wanna help people. My parents always taught us to help others, so I thought, 'ah, might as well make a career out of it'" she laughed a bit nervously, "I mean, the place is alright, but Huntsmen and Huntresses are so romantic, cool, and, jyeaha. Ya know?" She exploded into fan-girl mode.
I facepalmed, "See what I have to deal with when she's asked about what she's gonna do?" I asked the others in the room. They nodded, at her or me, I didn't know or care.
There was an awkward silence for a few seconds, "Do you know who I am?" the man asked, breaking the silence.
"You're Professor Ozpin." Ruby answered, "You're the Headmaster at Beacon."
"So that's why you look familiar." I muttered to myself.
Ozpin chuckled, "Hello."
"Nice to meet you." Ruby said
"Greetings." I said.
"You want to come to my school?" Ozpin asked us.
I nodded, "It'd be fun."
"More than anything." Ruby said desperately. Ozpin looked at the Huntress in the room, who I still don't know the name of, though she looked familiar.
"Humph." She answered his silent question, and looked away.
"Well, Okay." He said, looking a bit happy.
Ruby grinned like a maniac,
Until her sister saw her.
"Oh! I can't believe my baby sister is going to Beacon with me! This is the best day ever!" Yang exclaimed.
I was laughing at Ruby's expense, "Pleszz sssthop." Ruby said through Yang's bone-crushing hug.
"But I'm sooo proud of you!" Yang said standing on her tippy-toes.
"Really sis, it was nothing." Ruby mumbled, "It was all Alec."
I snorted, "More like, you killed four men, I only knocked them out." I said, Ruby glared at me.
"What do you mean?" Yang whined, "It was incredible! Everybody at Beacon will think you're the bees' knees!"
"Okay, I don't want to be the bees' knees, Okay? I don't wanna be any kind of knees, I just wanna be a normal girl, with normal knees."
I snorted again, "Good luck on being a normal girl, Ruby. You killed at least four men, you're not going to be a normal girl anytime soon." I pointed out.
She glared at me, she does that a lot at me, "You helped!"
"Yeah, by knocking them out for a short time, that reminds me, I need to make more EGs and EBs." I added as an afterthought.
"What's with you?" Yang asked Ruby after our byplay, "Aren't you excited?"
"Of course I'm excited," Ruby said forcefully, "It's just, I got moved ahead TWO years, I don't want people to think I'm special or anything." She mumbled.
"I don't think you're special." I chipped in, but was ignored as Yang walked over to Ruby and put an arm around her.
"But you are special," Yang said, she opened her mouth to say something else, but was cut off by a newscast,
"The robbery was led by nefarious criminal, Roman Torchwick, who continues to evade authorities, if you have any information on his whereabouts, please contact the available police department." It said, showing pictures of Roman Torchwick, "Back to you, Lisa." Another person showed up on the screen,
"Thank you Cyril, in other news, this Saturday's Faunus civil rights protest turned dark, when members of the White Fang disrupted the ceremony the once peaceful organization has now disrupted-" it then turned off and the woman from before appeared across several of the windows,
"Hello and welcome to Beacon," We turned toward the one that was next to us,
"Who's that?" Yang asked but was answered by the woman,
"My name is Glynda Goodwitch," it continued
"Oh,"
"You are among a privileged few who have received the honor of being selected to attend this prestigious academy, our world is experiencing an incredible time of peace, and as future Huntsmen and Huntresses, it is your duty to uphold it. You have demonstrated the courage needed for such a task. And now it is our turn to provide the knowledge and the training to protect our world." The hologram of Glenda faded out.
"Oh, wow." Ruby gasped and ran to the window, looking out upon the city from our Hovership, "look! You can see Signal from up here!"
Me and Yang sedately walked up to the window, "Ah, yes. Hmm. Ha! Found it!" I exclaimed
"Found what?" Yang asked me
"My final prank there." She raised her eyebrow, I elaborated, "See on the top of the tallest tower?" Yang and Ruby nodded, "That's my final prank."
They were about to say something, but then they saw the fireworks coming out of it. Ruby hit me on the back of my head, making it collide with the window, making a 'Clang!' sound.
"Thank you, Ruby, was it? I would've done it myself." I heard a familiar voice say.
I groaned, "I thought you were already there?" I asked my older brother, Blár.
"Nope. Everybody takes the ship to Beacon, even the older ones." He said.
I looked at the blue haired fiend, and was about to say something at him, when music started playing, Blár sighed, "They do this every year." I looked at him confused, until all the others in the ship started clapping their hands in a pattern. Then someone started to sing,
"In the Vaa-ale, In the Vaa-ale, In the Vaa-ale," several people started to join in, "In the Vaa-ale, In the Vaa-ale, In the Vaa-ale, In the Vaa-ale, In the Vaa-ale, In the Vaa-ale, In the Vaa-ale." The people started to do the clapping pattern again.
We all looked at Blár, he shrugged, "Just do it." he said and started clapping with the rest, I looked at Yang and Ruby. They looked shocked, and not at all amused. Until I started clapping with the rest of the students. Then they looked at me like I was an idiot. I just shrugged.
"They want you, they want you, they want you as the new recruits. They want you, they want you, they want you as the new recruits." Everybody except Yang and Ruby sang, then I started lip-singing,
"If you like adventure, don't you wait to enter, the recruiting office fa-ast. Don't you hesitate, there is no need to wait, they're signing up seemingly fast. Maybe you are too young to join up to-day, but don't you worry 'bout a thi-ing. For I'm sure that we'll all be a good Hunter, parked in the land at sea-a.
"In the Vaa-ale."
"Yes you can sail the seven seas!"
"In the Vaa-ale."
"Yes, you can put your mind at ease!"
"In the Vaa-ale."
"Come on now, people, make a sta-and!"
"In the Vaa-ale, in the Vaa-ale."
"Can't you see we need a ha-and!"
"In the Vaa-ale."
"Come on, protect the motherland!"
"In the Vaa-ale."
"Come on and join your fellow man! And woman." I added
"In the Vaa-ale." The others continued, except for Ruby and Yang, of course.
"Come on people, make a sta-and! In the Vaa-ale, In the Vaa-ale, In the Vaa-ale!"
We stopped singing and started clapping for a few seconds, then the rest of them started singing, "They want you, they want you, they want you as the new recruit. They want you, they want you as the new recruit." They fell silent once more, then,
"In the Vaa-ale.
"In the Vaa-ale.
"They want you. They want you, In the Vaa-ale.
"They want you. They want you, In the Vaa-ale.
"In the Vaa-ale
"In the Vaa-ale.
"Where can you find pleasure," I started, "Search the world for treasure, Learn science, technology-y? Where can you begin to make your dreams all come true, on the land or on the see-ea? Where can you learn to fly, Play in sport and skin dive, study oceanography? Sign up for the big band, or sit in the grandstand, when your team and others mee-eet."
"In the Vaa-ale."
"Yes, you can sail the seven seas!"
"In the Vaa-ale."
"Yes, you can put your mind at ease!"
"In the Vaa-ale."
"Come on now, people, make a sta-and!"
"In the Vaa-ale, in the Vaa-ale."
"Can't you see we need a ha-and!"
"In the Vaa-ale."
"Come on, protect the mother la-and!"
"In the Vaa-ale."
"Come on and join your fellow man! And woman."
"In the Vaa-ale."
"Come on people, and make a sta-and!"
"In the Vaa-ale, in the Vaa-ale, in the Vaa-ale in the Vaa-ale!"
"In the Vaa-ale."
"Yes, you can sail the seven seas!"
"In the Vaa-ale."
"Yes, you can put your mind at ease!"
"In the Vaa-ale."
"Come on now, people, make a sta-and!"
"In the Vaa-ale, in the Vaa-ale."
"Can't you see we need a ha-and!"
"In the Vaa-ale."
"Come on, protect the mother la-and!"
"In the Vaa-ale."
"Come on and join your fellow man! And woman."
"In the Vaa-ale."
The music soon faded out after this and everybody went back to normal, like it was always like this. Which I assumed it was.
Yang and Ruby looked at each other, then at me and asked at the same time, "What happened."
"Honestly? No idea, but that was a good song. . . hmm," I pulled out my Scroll, "aaaaand added to playlist."
"Wha-?" they stuttered
I felt an arm wrap around my shoulders, "Hmm, I think you broke them Alec." Blár said.
Yang and Ruby shook their heads violently, "NO! you didn't." they said in stereo.
Me and Blár looked at each other, then back at the sisters, both of us with our left eyebrow raised. The sisters just gaped.
"H-how do you do that?!" Ruby asked in shock and outrage and a few emotions I couldn't identify.
"We just raise it, like this," I raised my eyebrow again.
"N-nevermind." Ruby said. We stood there in silence for a few moments.
"So, Blár, what type of weapons do you use?" Yang asked, breaking the silence.
"Knives, Ice Dust Knives," he answered, excited for his creation, "They use Aura to charge the Ice Dust Crystal, creating an electric charge, that when put through certain materials, will run across the edge of the knife, here, let me show you." He pulled out one of his self-named VibroKnives, and flicked it on, the edge glowing a Dark Blue color.
We soon heard someone groaning, we looked over and saw a blonde come stumbling over to us, hands covering his mouth, "That's my cue to leave," Blár said, and jumped up, disappearing.
The sisters looked around to see if he was around here somewhere, "Where'd he Go?!" Ruby demanded/asked.
I sighed, "He does that. You won't find him, Yang." I added as she was still looking.
"Oh! Ew, you have puke on your shoes!" Ruby exclaimed, looking at Yang's shoes. They started panicking, Yang saying 'gross' over and over again, "Get away! Get away! Get away from me!" backing up.
I walked out on top of the ship, content that they could deal with that themselves. Not long after, we finally arrived at Beacon.
Hello and welcome to the trash files. I shall post my scrapped ideas that I have written, but ultimately scrapped for one reason or I made a newer version/redux/remake. For each chapter I'll be putting commentary at the end, mostly just how bad it was and why I scrapped it or something. I dunno.
Anyway, for this chapter; it was my first RWBY FanFic and it is horrible. Basically, this is just a rehash of the series, and when I wrote it I hadn't even finished Volume 1 yet, so I had a limited idea of what was going on at the time.
If the people who remember this, kudos to you and have you lost your mind. The entire 'musical' thing is scrapped in the final version. The 'musical' thing happened when I was listening to some of Village People's songs. I was completely out of my mind when I wrote back then.
I know that the characters are probably OOC and unrealistic, but hey, it's what I get for jumping into FanFics before knowing anything.
Next up on Trash Files is RWBY Chapter 2. Something worse looms on the horizon, Beacon Academy and more singing brought to you by Jaune Arc, the Lovable Idiot.
