Kirito POV
"I'm off to practice," I hear my cousin, Suguha, call as she runs out of the house. Sugu thinks I am her brother, and I used to also, but I figured out we weren't siblings a long time ago. I pick up my nerve gear and turn everything on. I haven't done a full dive ever since the beta test of Sword Art Online, the very first VRMMORPG ever to exist, and I can't wait to get back to Aincrad, the beautiful world in which SAO takes place.
"Link Start!" A rainbow of colors flashes before my vision,and when they disappear, big bold black letters spell Welcome To Sword Art Online, these words then explode into an array of blues, now flashing before me. Before I started the beta test, I had already developed my character, so the game automatically sets to Kirito, my avatar's name, also a very uncreative combination of my names, Kasuto Kirigaya, and also automatically selects Japanese for my language.
I spawn in the town of beginnings, where there are already a few players walking around, and some AIs. I get out of the city as fast as I can so I can get to the easy hunting fields before everybody else, but when I get there, there are already two boys, one very tall and one about average hunting.
Ed POV
"Hi!" Al says to the figure standing before us, he's all dressed in black, so I am suspicious of him, but so far there is nothing he's done wrong, so I'll hear him out.
"Were you two beta testers?" He asks. I gaze down on him, finally taller than everyone around me because I spent extra time on my avatar just so I could set height to the highest setting.
"No, you?"
"Yeah," he says, "I could show you around a bit and teach you how to hunt a bit better, if you want."
"He he," I hear a chuckle and turn around to see Winry holding in a laugh and I glare at her.
"I think that would really be helpful for us, ALL of us," I say, casting a look towards Winry. Before Winry can say anything in her defense, the dark figure draws his sword and I see it start to glow, he is using one of his sword skills. We all stare in awe as he sprints toward a boar and slices it in half with his sword.
"Wow!" Winry exclaims, clapping her hands together with a grin on her face, "I really do want to learn from you!" The dark figure walks toward Winry and shakes her hand introducing himself as Kirito, and Winry introduces all of us.
"Okay!"Kirito says,"The first thing you have to dos find your form. Begin with an opening stance and hone in on your sword skills. Since this is the first day, you probably only have a few." We all start with our stance and Al's sword begins to glow. Al runs toward another boar, and hits it hard with his sword, but the boars HP only drops about half way, and Al turns around looking exhausted already. In the short amount of time Al is facing us, the boar knocks him into the air and very far back. "The first rule about fighting is to never turn your back on your enemy!" Says Kirito, "thank you, Al for being a perfect example of what not to do!" Winry and I both burst into laughter while Al starts to stand up. Al attacks the boar again, finishing it off this time, then turns around, grinning.
"OK, my turn!" I call, and I begin to sprint toward a different boar. My Sword starts to glow and I hit the boar as hard as I can, and it's HP gets closer to zero than Al's, but not much. I hit the boar again with everything I have and it explodes into sparkly blue triangles that slowly disappear. Winry quickly finishes another boar off and we prepare to log off. When we open our logout menus the logout button is gone.
