Me writing a fanfic: typing, typing, typing…oh! I just got a new idea…typing the new fic.
I've been working on another fic when this just popped into my head and I couldn't help my self.
I don't own the characters.
Amanda was panting hard, she turned her head to Nick and let out a laugh at the huge grin displaying all over his face.
"What?" his eyes were closed.
"Nothing" she moved closer to him and placed soft kisses all over his collar bone moving up to his neck and then to his lips. He moved his hands to tangle his fingers in her hair and pulled her closer. Nick opened his eyes and looked at her, her cheeks were flushed, her hair was messy, she was sweaty but he thought she had never looked more beautiful, with that completely satisfied expression. Nick loved the fact he was the one to make her feel this way.
"I love you" he mumbled between kisses.
Amanda's smile widened and she looked deep into her eyes "I love you too" he turned her over and he was now on top of her, taking control of the kissing. He had a hard time letting go of her mouth, but he knew that if his lips would travel to her neck it wouldn't be easy for him to stop nibbling on it. They've been living together for over a year now and he still couldn't get enough of her, he would still get excited when she ran her fingers through his hair, when she caressed his chest. He never saw himself as a romantic kind of guy, and Amanda wasn't into grand romantic gestures, but whenever they were together he could feel his heart overflow with emotion, it was overwhelming sometimes, scared him a little bit. Nick never expected to fall in love, not after the divorce and its consequences. Even when Amanda and he started sleeping together, well, sleeping and fighting together, it wasn't love. Just two people letting off some steam. Back then arguing took over their "relationship" and they had to stop.
But time has a mind of its own and they found their way to one another. This time things were different. It wasn't just sex, they talked, about feelings nonetheless, they got to know each other and one night, Amanda was sitting on her couch, Frannie in her lap. Nick had just finished washing the dishes, she was in charge of the cooking and for the sake of fairness he handled the cleaning. Amanda's eyes were focused on the screen, and she didn't seem to notice Nick's gaze on her.
He couldn't look away, she was patting Frannie, biting her lip. Her hair was down, once in a while she pushed her bangs out of her eyes.
There was nothing special in that scene, this wasn't a special occasion, neither was dressed in fancy clothes, but in that moment it was clear to him.
He loved that woman.
He walked over to her and she gave him a quick smile before looking at the TV again. Nick patted Frannie "sorry girl" he said and she moved off the couch. Nick sat down next to Amanda and caressed her cheek. She turned to him again, a little surprised by this sudden sign of affection.
"I love you Amanda" he whispered and leaned to kiss her.
The statement was even more surprising, but she could feel it in his touch, see it in his eyes. Stupid Nick, she thought, always has to make things complicated. But she liked this complication, she was in love with him too.
But love did complicate things, as much as they tried to be completely professional on the job it was getting harder and harder to keep it to themselves. It was getting to a point where Nick was worried that even the slightest touch would reveal their relationship to everyone.
So they disclosed.
I was such a relieve. Not that they held hands or kissed at work, but not hiding being together meant they could spend time together in public, even though they'd rather spend it just the two of them.
"Yes" they answered simultaneously when Benson asked them if it was serious. Each of them had to hide a smile.
"Ok" she nodded at them, she had her suspicions, but decided that as long as it wasn't interfering with work she would pretend she has no idea "I'm happy for you guys" she continued "but you know this is not something the department encourages, not between people in the same squad"
Nick and Amanda talked about it, they decided not to make any decisions before telling Olivia.
"This means one of you has to be transferred" her gaze moving from Nick to Amanda "this is not a punishment, it's designed to protect you and the department"
"We know that" Nick nodded.
"So we need to decide which one of you leaves" she didn't want to lose any of them, Nick and Amanda were good detectives, but there was no other choice.
"We were hoping you would make that decision" Amanda said honestly.
"So I would be the bad guy?" she smiled.
"No…" Nick sounded a bit nervous.
"I'm kidding Nick, but we do need to decide"
It was determined Amanda would be transferred to homicide.
The job requirements, especially the long hours caused them to miss each other, there were days they wouldn't see each other at all, being completely swamped. Moving in together felt just right, and even though Amanda was a little worried about living with someone, they loved spending almost all of their free time together. Amanda got along great with Gil, he was a teenager now, but he was focused on school and stayed out of trouble. Zara seemed happy for her father, she was a cheerful kid and even though Nick didn't get to see her a lot they talked on the phone and via Skype everyday.
They did move to a new place, Amanda wasn't thrilled to live in the house he once shared with his ex-wife. It surprised Nick, but it didn't bother him or hurt his feelings. It took some time, but they had found a house the two of them liked. It had two bedrooms, one of them big enough to fit two beds for Zara and Gil.
Things were good.
Amanda moaned as Nick's mouth moved lower down her body, yes, things weren't only good, they were getting better and better.
"Hey" Nick smiled at Amanda when she walked through the door with Frannie.
"Morning" she smiled at him and took off the leash "didn't want to wake you up, you looked like you could use the extra sleeping time"
"Whose fault is that?" He said cheekily and walked over to her.
"Maybe you're just out of shape" she kissed him "maybe you should go to the gym more often"
"Funny" he gave her another kiss "come on, I made you breakfast" he lead her to the table and she sat down.
His phone rang, a sound they were all too familiar with and he had to go to the living room to answer "Amaro" she heard him say and walked to the coffee machine, Nick got her a new coffee maker for her birthday, even though he complained she drank too much of it as it is.
"Bella?" Amanda turned to look at Nick, Bella was the name of Nick's former mother-in-law, why would she call him so early? Why was she calling him at all? Amanda was pretty sure they haven't spoken since before the divorce.
"What?" his voice suddenly tensed "what are you talking about?"
Amanda wasn't sure if she should walk over to him, something was wrong, she could see that in his body language, his shoulders dropped and his left hand was slightly raised.
"No…I, I'm so sorry Bella, I…yes, I'll be there, of course, of course, I will let you know…yes…I will call you, I'm sorry…"
He finally placed the phone on the coffee table and turned around. Amanda rushed to his side.
"What is it?" she asked, placing her hand on his shoulder.
"That was Maria's mother" Amanda nodded, she already knew that "there was a…a car accident last night, she was out and…"
She already knew what he was about to say, but waited for him to do so.
"Maria's dead"
