Summary: Three years after Departure, they are still living in Roswell. Kyle wants to tell his Dad everything he has been through since he got into the alien mess. Isabel agrees to help him by opening his mind, because Kyle had closed his mind after Tess used him. That way, Kyle tells his dad things that he never knew about his son before. But something goes wrong and the journey to the dark begins.
Prologue
Jim looked at Isabel and Kyle sitting on the couch in the living room of his house. He knew what they were doing but didn't understand why they were doing it. Jim knew that Kyle wanted to open up to him, but why did he have to ask Isabel to help with that?
"Are you sure this is going to work?" Kyle asked
"Yes. Just relax and wait" Isabel replied.
Kyle closed his eyes and focused. Isabel started to focus energy. Kyle felt dizzy. He didn't know what was happening to him, but he trusted Isabel and just relaxed. Isabel took her hands away from Kyle for awhile and opened her eyes. Kyle opened his and looked at her.
"Did it work?"
"Uh-huh, you will open up soon and then you will talk. When you are ready I will have to make sure nothing went wrong"
Kyle looked a little shocked.
"No worries. I'm sure everything is okay."
Jim walked to Kyle and Isabel. Isabel stood and went to the kitchen. She understood that they needed some time alone. Kyle looked after Isabel and then watched as Jim sat next to him.
"You want to talk. I will let you talk"
Kyle took a deep breath and nodded.
"I've wanted to say many things to you, but I have been unable to say anything. I've closed my feelings away because of Tess. But now I can finally say what I want to say.... "
Kyle stopped suddenly. He felt a little dizzy and pale.
"Kyle? Is something wrong?"
"No, everything is fine."
Kyle put his hand to his head. He was seeing something. Something he never knew. He was in his room with Tess. They were having a conversation when Tess suddenly stopped him from talking by kissing him. She was about to pull away, but Kyle kept them touching each other. Kyle opened his eyes.
"Oh my god... "
"Is something wrong?" Isabel asked.
She looked at him, worried like Jim.
"When did you get there?"
"Five minutes ago. You were blacked out all that time"
"What?"
Kyle stood up. He almost fell back sitting, but got his balance.
"I...I need to rest"
Kyle started walking towards his room, but fell down to the floor.
"Kyle!"
Kyle tried to get up, but he felt too tired. Jim helped him up and to his room. Kyle was in his bed looking at Jim and Isabel.
"Call Max" Isabel said to Jim.
Jim nodded and walked away from the room. Kyle felt a sudden pain. He closed his eyes again. He moaned in pain for awhile until he whispered out the word "Tess". Isabel tried to help Kyle but it failed. When she heard the word Tess she looked pale. What had Kyle seen?
