I don't own Firefly or her characters, Joss Whedon does.
"What was sundered and undone shall be whole – the two made one," chimed River, lazily watching her brother.
"What the gorram is that moon brain gibbering about this time," snapped Jayne, not even looking up from the gun he was cleaning.
"I don't know," Simon said thoughtfully from the couch.
"Oh, lay off, Jayne," Mal called from the doorway. "She can't help it when the words come out wrong. We have the Alliance to thank for that."
"It's not the Alliance that has to listen to her ramble on," Jayne growled.
"Jayne," Kaylee said with a shake of her head.
"The Skekses and the Mystics cannot live apart. Only together can the world heal," said River pointedly. She was glaring rather harshly at her brother.
"Wait, I think I recognize it this time," said Simon thoughtfully. "Yes, it's from a story our mother told us. Something from Earth that was."
"Balance can only be found in unity," River said and stood in a huff. She pulled Kaylee over to Simon and pushed her into his lap. To ensure no one wiggled away this time, she pulled his arms around Kaylee's waist. Kaylee took an active interest in the situation, wrapping her hands around Simon's wrists so he couldn't try to escape once the shock wore off.
Inara and Zoe came in just as River backed up. They took in the sight before them and began applauding. "About time," cried Zoe.
