Bingo Slot (41) [AU] Bodyguard

This is the second one shot for the 'Serpents Nest' story line.

Veronica took a seat next to her mother in the downstairs library.

"What do you need from me dear?" Hermione lifted her eyes from the novel she was reading. She placed the bookmark in between the pages and closed the novel. Her full attention was on her daughter.

"I need to find a good bodyguard for Betty." Veronica spoke in a tight voice.

"The Serpents." Hermione didn't even have to question it. She fully knew how the Serpents worked. A furrowed brow creased her forehead. "If Betty and Polly don't all ready have full body guards on them ... then they must be safe."

"They may be safe from the Serpents due to Alice ... but with Jughead in the gang due to his father being locked away. Betty isn't going to leave it alone Mami." Veronica looked her mother dead in the eyes. "Betty will do everything she can to help get Jughead out." Her back stiffened even tighter. "The Serpents are going to forget their deal with Alice and go after Betty. Due to Jughead Jones." She snarled Jughead's name. "I loath him Mami."

"Veronica." Hermione sighed. "Look you know full well that Jughead isn't part of the Serpents willing. He's only part of it due to FP." Heat for the drugged out elder Jones left a very bitter taste in her soul. She never really liked FP Jones back in their childhood ... but she hated him (even worse than Alice) for the way he treated his son. To put his child in harms way all because he wasn't strong enough to get out of the life style that he chose. (At least she could admit that Alice did the honorable thing and got herself out of the gang ... and made them promise not to go after her children or their children ever). "But darling you fully know that Jughead has a good soul. You know that once his father gets out of prison then he's out of the Serpents."

Veronica's eyes shot fire. "He destroyed Betty. He willing destroyed her Mami!" Her fist slammed onto her thigh. "To his way of thinking in order to protect Betty is to destroy her trust."

Hermione sighed deeply. "Ronnie."

"Just don't." Veronica spat out. "Betty deserves better. She deserves to have someone to love her unconditionally. She deserves to finally not to have to question if whatever she is doing; feeling or even the way she's breathing is something the person whom claims to love her is pleased with her." She stood to her feet. "Get me that bodyguard as soon as possible Mom." With a that she walked from the room.

Watching her daughter leave; all Hermione could see was heartbreak.
