FORGETTING LEO STARLIGHT
FILE 01 - Leo Starlight
The crunch of metal, the squeal of rubber on tarmac, the sound of glass shattering, and his equilibrium being thrown into a spin sent Leo into full alertness. The cacophony and the flare of lights around his car jarred Leo into a sort of higher concentration.
Sweat pooled in the creases of his hands, gripped tight on the steering wheel, before the jerking motion of the car sent his hands slipping free of the wheel. Leo screamed as his car fishtailed, his throat straining as he struggled to be heard over the uproar around him.
As the remaining widows of the car were blown out, flechettes of glass shot across the seats, digging into Leo's cheek. His cries of pain were drowned out by the blare of what sounded like a thousand horns, each coming from a different direction as the car continued to spin. The world outside the shattered windows turned to nothing but darkness spinning in on itself. The night was occasionally pierced with streaks of light, until he was struck again. The car pitched to the side and was hit again before the world inverted itself.
Leo was thrown right by the impact before he came completely out of his seat. He strained out a cry as his seat belt worked to keep him in place by cutting into his chest. He slumped to the left against his door and then collapsed back into his seat only to repeat the motion over and over again until the car struck something solid. The car hit and stayed still for a moment, and the metal responded with a low groan before it tipped over and flopped down a slope before coming to a stop.
Leo's head was pounding as strange voices pierced through the echo of the crash in his mind. Leo tried to get his bearings, to find the door, but a pinch in his neck caused him to recoil in pain. There were more sounds, voices of men and women somewhere far above him. As his vision cleared, Leo focused on the sight of rain falling down from the endless darkness above as a wave of heat hit him. There were more shouts and then screams in the distance before he watched a spark of fire ignite the car and engulf him.
