There he was. He was always flirting with the other women. The only difference was, they were important, they contributed to science, and you made the coffee.

Being an intern at Aperture was... Uneventful. While everyone else was working on potentially world-altering projects, you were trying to stay awake, which was mind numbing, considering your job was to stand in the corner and make the important people their coffee in order to prevent them from killing anyone that didn't sign up for it. However, it gave you quite a lot of time to observe the employees, and by now you knew almost everyone's life story by heart, and assumed the ones you didn't know.

There were some... Interesting characters here, to say the least. There was Kevin, who worked in the planetarium (which you suspect was only built in order for Cave to have something Black Mesa didn't) who loved anything and everything space. Then there was Craig, who was the only person in the entire damn place who might get some work done once in a while... Maybe. He could at least beat anyone in a game of Trivial Pursuit or Jeopardy, and that's more than I can put on my resume. There's of course Wheatley, notorious around the labs for people having... Mixed feelings about him. There are many people saying he's a moron, and that he may be, but many fangirls like him solely because of his voice. However, there's one that catches your eye the most of all of them.

Rick.

Was Rick especially smart? No. Was he kind to everyone he met? No. So, what was it about Rick of all people that made you like him so much? Well, besides the fact that you've been single forever and the fact that he flirts with every female in the office at some point, what was it? His obsession with explosions and danger? Maybe. Him being basically a discount Indiana Jones? Perhaps. Or maybe, it was just that you easily developed crushes on people most people don't like. Whatever it was, you practically only show up to this old salt mine with the hope that, today, just maybe, he might choose to bother you instead of Caroline.

You felt a presence behind you, and assumed it was only a grumpy employee wanting a cup of coffee on the gloomy Tuesday morning. until you heard a familiar, flirtatious line.

"Well, hi there pretty lady~"
