Race 5: Prop Hunt

Prompt: Quaffle

W.C.: 335

A Mean Trick

"Ginny Weasley has got the quaffle again," the voice of the commentator boomed across the stadium. "Will the Harpies take the cup away?"

This was met by a loud cheer from the crowd, and an even louder boo from the supporters of Puddlemure United.

"And—wait a second, is that Harry Potter?" the commentator said. All faces turned to where the curly haired man was pointing. The Puddle seeker dropped the Snitch hunt to have a better look at the legend—Harpies had already met their chaser's boyfriend too many times to care. "Simply splendid to see you, mate," the commentator—Lee Jordan—said, grinning.

The green-eyed youth winked at Lee and waved at the people, who were now standing on their toes to get a look of the Man Who Survived. The attempts of Puddlemure Keeper to get his team's attention back proved futile.

"Doing good, Oliver, I suppose?" Ginny smiled sweetly at her Quidditch captain from the school days, before faking a pass to a fellow chaser, which, somehow, the old keeper fell for. Oliver glared at her as she smoothly managed to score another goal.

"170-90 to the Harpies . . . and looks like Sana, the seeker of the Harpies has seen the snitch."

The Puddle seeker turned back to the game, but too late. Sana was rushing after a small golden ball at the speed of a bullet, right across the pitch. A deafening silence, and then yells from the Harpies supporters filled the stadium.

"Holyhead Harpies have won the cup!"

.oOo.

Tossing the big, red ball in his hands, Harry grinned at his girlfriend. "So, the distraction worked?"

"It sure did," Ginny replied, smiling brightly. "Ollie was livid."

"Still a maniac, isn't he? Well, don't expect me to help you in every match," said Harry.

"Wouldn't dream of it," Ginny said. She leaned forward as if to kiss him, snatched the quaffle from his hands, and ran away laughing.

Harry told himself the butterflies in his stomach were only because he was hungry.
