"There's something I need to tell you…"
Icy had bought Bloom to the park in mid-afternoon. The two had been getting along well enough since being forced to 'talk things over'.
In fact, Icy had been more than kind to her, something Bloom hadn't initially expected. The witch had taken her out to dinner a few times–and those dinners were not cheap to say the least.
The witch had bought her jewelry and exotic gifts. With each Bloom had to wonder where she was getting the money to pay for all these gifts and…well they were dates were they not?
On this particular day as they walked through the park Bloom found the nerve to ask her why.
Icy glanced over at her. "It doesn't matter. What matters is that you like them."
"At least tell me how you're paying for all this, I don't want you spending all your money on me."
Icy shrugged. "I'm not."
Bloom motioned for her to continue.
"My parents own a business, back at home. Passed ownership to me a few months back. Trust me, I've got enough money for me and you both and then some."
Bloom nodded. "Well you don't have to buy our friendship."
"I'm not trying to buy friendship."
"Hmm?"
Icy stopped walking. "There's something I need to tell you…probably should have mentioned it a while ago." She paused. "Could figure out how to."
"And what would that be?" Bloom asked.
"I'm not trying to buy friendship. I'm trying to…pay for romantic partnership." Icy replied.
Bloom flushed bright red. "Well…well you don't have to buy that either."
"So my gifts suffice?"
Bloom sighed and rubbed her hand over her forehead. "Even if you didn't buy me all these things I'd love you."
"Wonderful. I'll rent out Magix's finest restaurant to celebrate." Icy clapped her hands together.
"Or we can just have a simple picnic, here, in this park. You don't have to be all elaborate all the time."
"Alright. Fine. But you're getting everything ready."
Bloom found herself sighing again. What had she gotten herself into this time?
