Prompts: Ring

It's a constant and pressing weight in the back of Elrond's mind. And his mind isn't the only place that it burdens. The perfectly normal (appearing) circle of metal is always there, always adding pressure to everything he does with his right hand. He has used it for many, many centuries to hold and defend the borders of his land, but now he senses a malevolent force growing through it. The worry is nipping at him, slowly growing into an issue he can no longer push aside. He can feel the Enemy's power through a weapon that was in a way, intended to serve it. Even further in the back of his mind, Elrond knows that he should cast aside the ring - no longer use it - but he isn't quite willing to until Rivendell is empty for he no longer knows if the haven's defenses can or will be held without Vilya's influence. He doubts it though. The Shadow is growing and the Ringbearers can no longer stand alone.
