This is slightly poetic, but I want to know what you guys think! I got bored in Science class...

"Forever" He said, "I'll always be there for you." Those words echo in my mind as I stare at the polished rock. As the rain softly paints the world a monochromatic grey, I silently reach out my hand until I feel the smooth, black granite beneath my fingertips. Slowly, gently, lovingly, I trace the distinct engraving, slowly making our something. E... R... I... K... A name, Erik M. Destler.

I feel my lips slowly twist into something... But what? It's... A smile? For what though? What is there to smile about? Erik... "Erik..." I whisper, so quietly though, not even the dead could hear me. My hand falls to my side, limp, "Useless..." My voice, once so pleasant, but now so harsh, vile, "Ugly..." I'm not afraid to admit it. "It's all my fault..." I barely choke out. Not all the apologies in the world would ever makeup for what I did, what had happened.

"You were right there! You could have saved him!" His Mother's words ring out. I close my eyes, knowing that it's ll true. But it happened so fast. Erik, the gun, Raoul... The next thing I knew, I was holding Erik in my arms, dead... He took a bullet right to the heart. For me. All for me...
But in reality, there was no way I could have saved him. I open my eyes... The rain hides my tears, no umbrella with me.

Let it come and soak me, let it wash away my sings, and let it Baptize me with new life. "Please..." The band of silver encircling my fourth finger glows in the dull light. There could have been such happiness, such joy. But all I know now, that it will always be just a happy fantasy and nothing more. My hands ball in anger as I slump down onto my knees.

"The Nightingale will forever sing for it's mate, but when it's mate is gone, the Nightingale has nothing to sing for anymore... Now everything is nothing but a drifting memory, skylight is fleeting... Night is coming upon..." I whisper to the dark, blackened stone. But the stone doesn't reply, and with that I cry...

"Don't leave me alone..."
