The day began as normal as it could be. Well, except for our dear Lucy Dotson. She had a bad cold. And a really bad one at that. Sue told her to stay in today but she didn't listen. So she went to work against Sue's advice. Although, she should have listened to her. She didn't know what today could bring.
It's
'bout as bad as it could be
Seems everybody's buggin'
me
Like nothing wants to go my way--
yeah, it just ain't been
my day
Nothin's comin' easily
During the day, the boys throw her way files to be filled on the computer at the end of day, at the latest. I can't go on like this! If I'm not appreciated enough, respected enough, then I'll change jobs if I keep being mistreated like this. Being sick like she was, she didn't feel like completing these files. So she went home to rest, letting the files unfinished on her desk. At home, Sue gave her a chicken soup and she fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
Even
my skin is acting weird
I wish that I could grow a beard
Then I
could cover up my spots
not play connect the dots
I just wanna
disappear
At the Hoover Building, there was a position opened at the Personnel department. Maybe if the guys won't change the way they treat me, maybe someone at the Human Resources will. Here's my chance to prove that I'm capable to do it.
The next morning, she made the first step into her new job: the new personal assistant of the personnel manager. She knew the place like the back of her hand, yet she couldn't shake the feeling of disorientation that came over her from the moment she stepped through the door. The office was immaculate, not a paper out of place. The walls there were opaque. There was no having to wonder or worry about prying eyes. A part of her wished she was still at her desk with the team. That her desk wasn't upstairs, a sign she was no longer one of 'us', but one of 'them'. Wishes and horses, she reminded herself as she turned from the window. Her life had changed. She was the responsible adult now. She stepped through that door and into a new job. She just hoped she was ready for it.
When
everything is goin' wrong
Don't worry, it won't last for
long
Yeah, it's all gonna come around
Don't go let it get you
down
You gotta keep on holding on
Suddenly, filing some paperwork at her new position, she received a little visit from Levi. He had some note saying that she should be going to the hall. The curiosity got the better of her and she went to the hall. The boys were there with gifts and flowers saying apologies to her about the way they've been treating her. And she accepted her rotor position back and the team was happy she was back.
Maybe it takes a new change of jobs to really understand what you're about to sacrifice. Real friendship is the key to have a great job in which you can evolve.
