A/N: It's sad that church is was got me to finally write this out. But this is a late birthday fic for calme-et-humble on Tumblr ! Happy (late) Birthday darling! It's my first attempt at somethig angsty to I hope it's not too bad!)
Matt sat in bed looking down at the smaller blond. He watched the steady rise and fall of Matthew's chest with every breath he took. His insomnia had taken over tonight, forcing him to remain awake. He continued to study the blond. As he did, thoughts of self-doubt and hatred started to cloud his mind. Memories of a violent past resurfaced, sending his emotion into a crazed whirlwind. All the people he's killed, all the fun he had doing it. He was a demon. He disn't deserve the angel lying next to him peacefully. He ran a shaky hand through his hair. He couldn't continue to stay here and taint the beautiful man. He looked out the window to the semi-dark horizon. He made a decision. He couldn't change himself, how he was. He got up, dressed himself, and went to his own room and packed up the little belongings he had. He goes back and leans over Matthew, torn expression clear on his face. He placed several featherlight kisses all over his face.
' I'm sorry Doe-Eyes but...I'm a monster' he whispers quietly 'I couldn't love anyone even if I tried. You deserve better than this. Maybe one day I'll come back.' With those words, he walked out the house and stole away into the dead of night not once looking back. His heart hurt but he continued on, disapearing into the woods. Leaving behind the beautiful angel.
Matthew woke up late in the morning, well rested. He pulled on some pants and walked downstairs. It was eerily quiet but he didn't pay much attention to it as he made breakfast. Once he was done he calles out to Matt to come down. When no one answered, he went to the other's room. He heard no answer so he opened the door to find the room empty, completely void of the little stuff Matt owned. His heart stopped. He took a few shaky steps before he sank to his knees. He gave out a small whimper, his eyes becoming watery, filled with immense hurt as he tried to think about what went wrong. He had tried to give Matt space and let him take things at his own pace, yet it seemed that it wasn't enough. Matt had left, like so many others had. He abandoned him, left him to live alone and suffer in silence. He climbed into Matt's bed and curled into a ball. Tears threatened to fall but held steady and kept them back. 'There is no point in crying now' he thought to himself as he drifted of in a fitful sleep.
