Eric Delko was flicking through his phone as he stepped out of the lab into the piercing evening sunshine. Done, he lifted his head and found exactly what he was looking for: his blonde bombshell standing back against the hand rail.

"Fancy dinner?" asked Calleigh Duquesne with an arched eyebrow.

"You and your codes," replied Eric drily, wrapping his arm around his girl's shoulders. Leaning down, he pressed a kiss to her temple. "Love you too by the way."

Calleigh laughed as the male CSI threaded his fingers through hers and they moved down to the footpath. Walking together, Eric opened his mouth to speak but his phone rang and put a halt to his intention.

"Sorry," said the dark skinned man, both coming to a stop as he fished for his mobile in his pocket.

His eyes were on hers as he flipped it open. "Eric Delko here," he offered as a greeting, leaning down to press a kiss to his girlfriend's lips.

He belatedly realised that he should have checked caller id when the sultry voice of Dr Victoria Mercier came over the line. "Ready to thank me yet?"

Eric was at a momentary loss for words. He must have looked a little strange because Calleigh, confused by his expression, lifted a hand and placed it on the front of her lover's shirt. "You right there babe?" she queried softly.

Eric covered her fingers with his, their clasped hands resting on his chest.

"Hey Victoria," began the recovered man as Calleigh then wrapped herself around his body, her head just under his chin. "I'm actually busy tonight – most nights in fact – but we should catch up some time."

"What are you not telling Delko?" teased the night shift Medical Examiner. "Are you a taken man now?"

"Ah..." fumbled Eric. Thinking a moment, he realised he knew the answer to that question. "Yeah, I am," he said in a determined tone. He pressed a kiss to the crown of Calleigh's head, placing his free hand low on her back.

"Will wonders never cease." Mercier spoke lightly, but part of her heart sank.

The call finished not long after, the ME reached for her bag. Time to head out and grab a quick bite before the night shift started.

Heading to the carpark, she fiddled around in her bag looking for her car keys. Mission accomplished, Victoria Mercier looked up.

There was a black SUV parked nearby. There was nothing striking about it, except for the two people standing next to it: a woman leaning against the passenger door, a man leaning down over her.

Looking closer, she realised she could identify them both. Before her was Eric Delko bracketing the cheeks of CSI Duquesne, her hands on his hips, as they kissed.

Huh, she thought to herself as she abruptly turned and took the long way to her car.

He was certainly taken.

Finito.
