An empty looking glass
A bottomless reflection
This porthole through which
We saw the world float by
Everything ethereal, no answers
For all these questions asked,
Just a blank stare
Through the hollow looking glass.
XXX
Half empty or half full?
Water begins to pour
Into two orbs of blue
Fixed on the event horizon.
Some things we understand, but even more unknown
And so and so it goes and goes
Filling up with liquid light
The fragile looking glass.
XXX
Surely there's something in there now
A sea of memories
Held back by fluorescent white walls
And a black coat of forgetting
Will this glass ever receive
Each last missing piece?
Fragments and shards of unknown pasts
Link to form the looking glass.
XXX
Maybe some things really are better left unsaid,
Some pieces better left unfound,
I've cut myself on this final shard
And saltwater blood is pouring out.
Maybe I should never have been filled,
You'll bear the pain of my overflow.
Lock me away, take the key and seal
Me in your looking glass.
XXX
I look through the porthole of your heart
And try to help you steer the helm
But the waves are high and seas so dark
I can't guide you through this realm
If we're lost at sea, at least we're alone together,
Two souls in one heart of light.
Let the memories lull you into sleep
And close the tired looking glass.
