Remus Lupin had been dreaming, but he knew that he was awake now.

It's cold, in here.

But Remus remembered that it was Christmas…

At Hogwarts.

His four poster bed towered over his slumber. The bed curtains had been loosened and kept all light from entering save a ray of sunshine that shone on the person sleeping next to him.

Remus rolled over in bed to cherish the sight.

The person next to Remus slept with her back to him. Long red curls trailed down her slender neck and the curve of her bare back. A loose curl had made its way close to Remus's face.

He pulled their shared blankets closer to him and reached for the hair.

The morning sun shone in a way that couldn't compare with the rest of daylight. It seemed to cleanse things of the quite unholy adventures that they had partaken in the night before.

I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

She was his most treasured secret.

James hated Lily. Remus could never live it down if James knew they were…

She was his closest friend.

Her quiet slumber betrayed her lively personality.

He loved her.

Remus closed his eyes and felt the soft curl that rested in his hand. He opened his eyes, however, as he felt her hair leaving his hand.

It shrunk and lightened to a startling version of its normal red softness. It contorted into straight spikes.

A day dream.

He was no longer a sixteen year old boy with three cheery friends and a red-headed secret.

"Good morning, Lupin" said Tonks with a yawn.
