Diclaimers: I don't own Naruto
Chapter 1
"KILL THE DEMON!" the villagers of Konoha screamed. Tonight was a very special night for the village. Very special. It was October 10th, the day celebrated in Konoha by attempting to kill a certain blonde haired, blue eyed whiskered boy. A day known as the day the Kyubi no Yoko was defeated by the great Yondaime Hokage by sealing the almighty beast into a baby boy. The boy who became the Kyubi incarnate.
Naruto Uzumaki was once again running for his life on his birthday. His least favorite day of the year. Then again, no one ever forgot it; always right on time to join the 'party' with their friendly pitchforks and heartwarming torches.
Once again, the boy's jiji was out of the village, and once again the young orphan was left to defend himself...that was until his academy teacher joined in. As a child, he was already no match for a chuunin, but add in his malnutrition and naive nature and you get a recipe for disaster.
However, he hasn't lived this long for nothing, having enough ability to dodge the first few attempts...from the civillians...that is when the ninja struck. Kunai poised to be driven through Naruto's skull from behind.
CLANG!
The kunai was stopped cold, inches from the boy's head as a cloak figure appeared next to him, blocking the stabbing kunai with one of his own. Almost as if it materialized out of thin air, a katana appeared in the man's other hand, swiftly bisecting the chuunin at the hip.
"You all right kid?"
"W-who're you?" Naruto asked. "Are you gonna kill me too?"
The man chuckled sadly, "No kid, but THEM...no promises," gesturing to the mob of angry villagers.
"Hehe there's only one of you, and fifty of us! What can one demon-lover like you do?!" taunted on of the villagers.
"You'd be suprised," was the only response that the man got.
Throwing the kunai in his hand, the cloaked figure called out, "Shurikan shadow clone jutsu!" And with a one-handed seal the lone kunai became fifty, slaughtering about half of the assembled crowd. The rest ran away screaming, almost all injured fairly badly.
"Hmph! If that is how they treat one of the villages greatest heroes, it's no wonder why auntie left vowing to never return," said the man to no one in particular.
"Hey, mister! Thanks for saving me back there...but umm why did you save me? And who are you?!" came a soft, tentative voice from the boy beside him.
"Let's just say I owe someone a favor," The man scratched the back of his head while chuckling sheepishly, ruffling his somewhat shaggy jet black hair. "Though I guess I did go a little overboard. Sensei would not be pleased...as for who I am," he paused as if unsure of revealing his identity. Then shook his head as the kid did not deserve to be lied to. "My name is Keitaro Kato, and hopefully your new sensei.
