I pull away from Tobias, trying to ignore the dropped jaws of Christina and Will. Surprisingly, no one else seemed to notice an initiate kissing her instructor. Probably because everyone is shouting and applauding.

Eric throws the microphone on the ground, the screeching noise giving us his attention.
"To celebrate, and learn more about our new faction members, it is time for our next paintball game tradition! Meet in the trains in ten minutes, we're going to Navy Pier again!"

Everyone shouts, while the new members, including me, stand there confused. I look at Tobias, a question gaze on my face. He smiles mischievously, which can only mean he won't tell me.

"You'll like this, I promise." He turns toward his apartment, probably to get ready.
I go to the dorms to put on something more maneuverable. I assume if this is a game that included paintball guns, I will have to wear something that allows me to run...or climb, if the situation calls for it.

I see Christina tying her shoes in the bunk next to mine. "I hear Uriah say something about this. It's a game of truth or dare, except with a few changed rules."

"What's Truth or Dare?" I ask, although it is pretty self explanatory, I want to be sure.

"You know, someone asks you Truth or Dare, and you pick one, and then you have to tell them a truth or do a dare, and if you refuse, take a piece of clothing off."

"Oh." I say. "So why do we need paintball guns?"

"It's Dauntless," Christina says smiling wryly. "Who knows what they think of."

I laugh. "I'm surprised you didn't say anything about me and...you know..." My cheeks flare with heat.

She gives me an look that would make a person suspicious. "I'll find out tonight."

"This is different from the normal way to play truth or dare, mainly because we are Dauntless." Eric says as we ride the train headed for Navy Pier, once again. "You all have paintball guns, loaded with ten random colors of paint. Three white colors, and seven colorful ones. If you get hit my a colorful paintball, then you have to do a dare that the person who shot you says to do. If you get hit with a white one, then you have to tell a truth that the shooter asks you. Fail to do the truth or the dare, you have a chance to wriggle out of it by shooting a target that has to be hit dead center. We have targets everywhere, only to be used when someone refuses a dare. If the person misses the center, then you have to fight hand to hand with someone the shooter picks. Understand?"

That seems more erratic than the normal version which Christina told me about, but I don't expect anything less from the Dauntless.

"You will be separated into your Capture The Flag teams from this year. You must stay with your team the whole time, no one getting separated." I can't help but think this rule was made for Tobias and I. "The purpose of this, is so everyone can see the person who got shot make a fool of themselves. Stray away from your team, and I will personally see to it that you're hamburger gets a good doze of poison. Four's team will go off second. My team, follow me."

And so it begins.
