This story is only a one shot, It's like a sequel to my other story The Letter. I know this idea was probably done a few dozen times, but I had to at least try it.
It had been a nine months well almost since Jane had give Maura the letter which now sits framed in their bedroom. They started dating that day. Three months later they were sleeping together, three months after that they moved in together. That was three months ago and if Jane played her cards just right she would propose tonight. Jane's brother Frankie helped her pick out the simple dimond ring that was currently in her back pocket.
Jane was in the office pacing for the past twenty minutes. So while waiting for Maura to dress Jane decided to pratice what she would say talking to the wall Jane started her speech.
'Maura my love, romance is romance. Love is love. Feelings are feelings. There are no rules or guidelines. You like; love; have feelings for whomever your heart desires. I will not be stopped by fear. I will follow what my heart says; what I want; who I want...if everyone worried about fear no-one would ever achieve their dreams or even everyday tasks. I certainly wouldn't be working in this job knowing what my family and you go through every day while I'm out there hunting murders. My life wouldn't exist. Let's not be stopped by fear. Or stopped by fear of your feelings, or people's views or the unknown. Embrace it, You'll always have me right beside you, supporting you and ready to catch you if you need me. I care about you like crazy. Hell, I love you. If there is the slightest chance I can have a future with you as a loved-up couple we need to grab it, because that is rare. All the small details will work themselves out along the way.' Jane pulled the ring out of her pocket and opened and as if Maura had been standing right there in front of her.
"Dr. Maura Isles, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?' Jane asked still very nervous
"Yes, Jane I will marry you." Maura said from the doorway.
Jane jumped and spun around grabbing her hip were her gun would normally be. Jane seen Maura was leaning against the door frame to the office where Jane had been waiting.
"Wha...Wha..What did you say?" Jane stammered
Walking over and placing a kiss on Jane's soft lips thankful that the heels almost mad her Jane's height.
"I said yes, I will marry you. I love you so much." Maura smiled as Jane carefully slipped the ring on the smaller woman's hand.
"I love you, Maura always have."
