"Kurt, I can't believe she's finally ours." Blaine whispered to his husband while he leant his head on his shoulder.
They looked over a light pink cot with hand painted flowers decorating each bar. Inside lay a beautiful, sleeping baby girl, pursing her lips in her sleep. After weeks of filling in forms, putting up with un-prepared visits from the agency, the wait was finally over.
There had been days when it seemed like it would never happen, what with Eliza already being in their lives; it complicated things. There were nights when Blaine would wake up to find Kurt still sat up awake in the middle of the night, sometimes crying. Blaine just held him through the tears and told him It's okay, everything will work out, I promise.
It did.
"I think she has your eyes for sure." Kurt whispered back, holding back tears as he remembered picking her up from the hospital room, after hours of waiting anxiously in the waiting room.
Holding her in his arms for the first time and smiling through tears at Blaine and Eliza next to him, they were a real family.
There was a tapping of small feet on the wooden floor and within second Eliza was in the room nudging Blaine's leg.
"Papa, is she awake yet? I want to talk to her again."
He smiled down at her and smoothed her hair down, "She's still sleeping, sweetie, you can talk to her tomorrow."
Eliza sighed but smiled and sat in the small rocking chair next to the cot.
"I have a little sister now."
Kurt breathed a laugh and pulled her onto his lap, sitting in the chair instead.
"I know you do, but don't ever forget we love you both the same. You're both the best daughters we could ask for."
"I know Daddy. You and Papa are the best too. I'm not just being nice either, I tell auntie Santana all the time."
Blaine laughed, "I'll be sure to ask her; now come on you, bed time I think."
"But can't we make cookies? You said we could when we got home."
Kurt bit back a laugh at the puppy eyes she was using; Blaine was such a sucker.
"I- Tomorrow honey. It's getting late and we've all had a long day."
"Okay, but I get extra cookie dough because of this." She jumped off of Kurt's lap and tottered off to her room again.
"Always like her mother." Kurt grinned and got up to stand next to Blaine again. He ran a hand through his hair and kissed Blaine on the cheek.
"It really has been a long day, we should get to bed too."
"I love you so much Kurt; I love our family, and never forget it, okay?"
Kurt pulled Blaine into a tight hug and whispered in his ear, "I know you do. Me too."
He pulled back slightly and made for the door before whispering, "Just so you know, you're on getting up duty seeing as though you love me so much."
