"Lucius, you got a moment?" Raven asked. Lucius rolled onto his side to face his lover.
"Of course, Lord Raymond," he yawned. "What is it?"
"Priscilla said she found out the truth about what happened to our parents, and she wants me to come to Carleon so she can tell me in person." Raven glanced out the inn's window, the sun had just set and the sky was dark, dark and clouded with a threat of storm in the air.
"Oh..." Lucius nodded. "This is a big step, then. Are you sure you're ready to know the truth? It could be more horrifying than you're bargaining for."
Raven sighed, running a hand through his hair.
"I don't know. To be honest, I'm a little afraid of that," he said, "but I know the longer I put it off, the longer it'll stay with me and drive me crazy."
Lucius sat up and draped his arms across the mercenary's bare shoulders in a comforting embrace.
"No matter what happens, then, I'll be by your side."
Raven smiled, locking an arm around Lucius's slender waist and pulling him closer before blowing out the candle at their bedside.
