A/N: I had originally written this to be a part of a much larger fic, but I fail at completion, so I'm thinking now it will just be a collection of drabbles. Also, the girl is an OC of mine, but you really don't have to know anything about her to enjoy this.

Disclaimer: I do not own Bleach or any of its characters or locations or anything else associated with it.

The eternal night of Hueco Mundo glimmered softly beyond the tower's balcony. Therein the couple lay, bodies tight against each other. He behind her; his face snuggled between the top of her back and the mattress, his arm draped wistfully across her middle.

"Grimmjow, my back itches. Scratch it?" she asked, her voice thick with fatigue.

"Why can't you do it?" came his muffled reply.

"Your arm's closer," she whined.

He sighed. "Where?"

"The middle." A pause. "No, the other middle."

"There's only one middle." His patience was wavering.

"Lower, then." A soft sigh escaped her lips. "Much better," she murmured.

Silence filled the room once more and sleep had nearly taken him over.

"How can you sleep like that?"

If his eyes had been open, he would have rolled them.

"I don't know. It's comfortable."

She sighed. "I don't feel protected at all when you sleep that way. It's like you're not even aware of your surroundings."

"I'm perfectly aware. Besides, you're just as capable of beating the shit out of anyone that comes in here as I am."

She sighed again.

"Alright. Turn over," he mumbled, removing his head from its warm resting place.

Her skin whispered against the silken sheets. She was now facing him, her dark green eyes gazed into his blue ones.

"Is that better?" his voice was soft now. He took her hand and entwined their fingers. He inhaled deeply and his eyelids slipped closed. "I'm right here," he whispered.

She beamed, moments like these were rare and reminded her why she had fallen for him. She gently kissed the tip of his nose.

"Thank you."

With a smile still gracing her lips, she curled against his chest and drifted into warm slumber.
