Silence. That was all Max and Chloe could hear as they drove out of Arcadia Bay. No one had survived the disaster. No one but the two of them.

Max watched out of the window as the vehicle sped past various wreckages and she couldn't help but wonder if her friends were trapped somewhere underneath. Dead. She shut her eyes tightly, in an attempt to block out the images that appeared in her head but that only made it worse. Their existances had all ended way too early because of her. And she knew that it would haunt her for the rest of her life. But it was to save Chloe. Chloe... Max was in love with Chloe. And she didn't know what she would do without her, she'd be a lost cause.

Max wondered if Chloe hated her because she chose her over Arcadia Bay, where Chloe's family were. Her friends. They had only spoke a few words since that moment on the cliff. Maybe Max had just been selfish.. Maybe Chloe wanted to die. Maybe she wanted to die so that she could finally be with Rachel...

Chloe glanced over at Max in pity. She hadn't begged Max to save her. Infact, she had practically told her to save Arcadia Bay over her. But for some reason, she hadn't. Chloe couldn't stop thinking about Joyce and step-dou... David. They were both dead. At least they would be together. Part of her was glad that Max had chosen her over The Bay, although it wasn't the better choice.

She didn't blame Max. Hell, Chloe was in love with the dorky hipster beside her. On the clifftop, Chloe had hoped that Max would choose to save Arcadia. To save Joyce, David, even Frank and that stupid dog. But she hadn't. She had chose to save her. Chloe felt.. special that Max had chosen her over Arcadia. And Chloe knew that Max wasn't going anywhere anytime soon, not again. And neither was she. They could get through this together. Chloe sighed before placing a hand on Max's shoulder as she drove, speaking softly.

"Max..."

Max didn't answer. Chloe removed her hand from the other's shoulder and placed it back on the steering wheel.

"Max, look. I don't blame you for choosing me."

Max lifted her head from the window and looked at Chloe. She appeared to mean what she had said. Instead of answering, Max said the only thing she knew that she could.

"I love you, Chloe."

She spoke quietly but it was still loud enough for the blue haired girl to hear.

"I'll always love you."

Chloe said firmly in response. Max felt herself get butterflies deep in her stomach and her cheeks flushed a light shade of red. Chloe smiled softly. Max looked adorable when she blushed.

"Maxine Caulfield, It's you and me against the world now."

"Max.. never Maxine."

The two girls shared a small laugh before Chloe switched on to a nationwide radio station, which seemed to be just at the beginning of a song. Chloe took Max's hand in her own and held it tightly, while she tapped the other hand on the steering wheel in time with the music as she drove.

When all of our friends are dead and just a memory and we're side by side, it's always been just you and me.

Max and Chloe shared a loving glance after the line played. It was true. This was the start of their new life, together. And the moments that they had in Arcadia Bay... now they were just treasured memories.
