Characters: Kakashi, Naruto, Minato (mentioned), Kushina (mentioned)
Summary: He's so much like his parents.
Pairings: mentioned MinaKushi
Author's Note: I know Kushina point out that Naruto looks more like her apart from his colorings, but I can't help but think that not all would agree.
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto.
There are days when having Naruto is like having Minato and Kushina back from the gave and with him again. On those days, Kakashi doesn't know whether to laugh and smile or sit down and cry.
Kakashi is greeted by a boy who is to his own eyes all his father in appearance but in personality is almost entirely his mother's child. Pranks and short-tempered violence seems to be the breadth of Naruto's personality until he softens and lets walls down and reveals the same quiet, isolated pain that Kushina always felt, a stranger in a strange land.
Blue eyes shine with the same starry, unconquered light that Kakashi was so used to seeing in his sensei. Naruto is just like Minato—he thinks he can change the world, and will try to as best he can, brick by brick.
And, of course, Naruto possesses the same deep, passionate capacity to love as both of his parents. He can see it when the boy displays compassion, camaraderie, consideration of others. Naruto, despite being beaten down by the village all his life, can still love. Can still love, despite everything.
Kakashi mostly sighs and leans back wearily when he sees similarities, and watches Naruto with drained eyes.
All this does is remind him how much he still misses them both.
