Sam walked down the hall as she followed Anise to holding for the "Za'tarc" questioning. She sat down and was hooked up to the machine by a couple of random nurses.

"Ok. Let's begin." Anise said. "You left through the stargate without permission, completely unarmed, and facing an unknown number of Jaffa."

"Yes, but they were easily defeated with the armbands, that should have lasted the entire time, but the damn things depleted and fell off," Sam responded with a hint of sarcasm. However, she was thinking something else completely random. 'The colonel is starting to rub off on me.'

"Then what?"

"Colonel O'Neill and I started to leave. We were just about to exit when the power depleted," Carter said. "The Colonel and I were stuck on opposite sides of the shield. I kept asking him to leave."

"But he didn't." Anise said.

"No, he didn't. The C4 exploded and the shield fell. We met up with Daniel and Teal'c and left. That's it."

"Why did you want Colonel O'Neill to leave without you?"

Sam paused before answering. "I wanted him to leave because… because I couldn't stand to see him suffer."

"Why?"

"Because I care about him a lot more than I'm supposed to. Hell, do you want me to flat out say it, General?" She yelled. Hammond, along with Frasier, was behind the one-way glass in the interrogation room. He smirked. "I love him!"

Carter turned around and glared at Janet through the glass because she knew her friend was laughing. Janet was indeed laughing, but not as hard as Sam thought. She was snickering here and there, but was not falling down, laughing. Finally, she was allowed to go, but she followed by a SF. She walked down to the holding room with Jack in it and dismissed the SF. Jack gave her the 'look' and asked a question.

"How did it go?"

"I confessed." That was all she said on the subject. Jack nodded and stared at her.

"So, what now?"

"I don't know."

"I'll resign. But only if it's what you want." Jack said.

"I can't ask you to do that." Carter replied. "I want to be with you, but I don't want to be the reason you leave the job."

"Sam." Jack sighed. He walked over to her and pulled her close to him. "C'here."

Sam rested her head on his shoulder. "So what now?"

Jack stepped back and held her at shoulder length. "I have question. You don't need to answer now. I can leave. Can you?"

----

It was three weeks later when Sam answered. She simply walked up to him in his office and said yes. With that, Jack stood up, packed his junk, and set his letter of resignation on Hammond's desk. After that was done, he and Sam left the mountain, hand in hand.
