Simple
It should have been simple. It should have just been a scene between actors. They weren't even in the play yet, just auditioning. It was just a stage kiss. Trina knows that. Because, as her kiss with Robbie will testify, you kiss whoever the hell they tell you to during an audition. And it should have been so simple because they're both just playing the parts written and hoping to be cast.
The problem is that Beck, as it turns out, is the most phenomenal actor Trina has ever seen perform. (She can't watch herself, or he'd be second). And, worse, he's the best damn kisser to ever grace her lips with his. So what should have been a simple stage kiss to prove that she's got more talent than the whole school combined has ended with this weird little crush-thing.
It's not really a crush. She doesn't think about him all the time or anything. But sometimes, when she's not paying attention, her mind will wander to that kiss, and her hand will rise to her lips. Then she'll remeber that she's being stupid and it was acting, it's always been acting and it always will, and it's supposed to be simple.
And she dreams about him sometimes. Not often. Just every once in a while she'll dream those talented lips and that perfect, pretty face. And it doesn't mean anything because a kiss between actors never does. Because things are simple when you're whoever the script says you are.
He gets the part he wanted, male lead. She gets nothing. (She's just too talented, it wouldn't be fair to outclass everyone else. She understands). She's glad for him because he deserved it almost as much as she did. And she goes to every single showing. No, she's not there to see him. She just happens to love "It's a Wonderful Life". Really.
And it's not a crush, not really. Because she knows that he's got his girlfriend, Jade West of Perfection and Malice. Because he couldn't handle her anyway. Because it was a stage kiss and nothing more. Because things are supposed to simple.
Even if they never are.
