The Amber Has Landed
"Sofia!" Sofia heard her stepsister exclaim upon her return from the trolls' cave.
"Amber, what's wrong?" Sofia asked while wondering why Amber would be so worried.
"Sofia, I heard you ran afoul of a fliegel." Amber said in worry. "Are you alright?"
"Yes, Amber." Sofia answered, hoping Amber would feel relieved. She started narrating the adventure and Amber felt bored by it but kept her mouth shut out of politeness and relief. Amber became genuinely curious when Sofia mentioned the emerald and the diamond.
"Sofia, are you saying those trolls have an emerald and a diamond and give them no value just because they don't glow?" Amber was shocked at what she considered stupidity on the trolls' part.
"Yes, I was surprised as well but I was too worried about Gnarly to think about it." Sofia explained.
The next day, Princess Amber paid the trolls a visit. "Hello!" She sweetly said with a forced smile. "Any trolls here?"
"Hello, young visitor." Chief Knuckles greeted her. "I am Chief Knuckles. You must be Princess Amber of Enchancia."
Amber curtsied. "Pleasured to meet you, Sir, and to know you've heard of me."
"Well, I figured out you must be a Princess and, since I know Sofia is Enchancia's only other Princess and you don't look like her." He replied and then gave her a time to frown. "What brings you here, Princess Amber?"
"I got word you trolls have diamonds and emeralds but give them no value." She hopefully said.
"Gnarly did find one of each stone back when he was mining for cave crystals, Princess." Chief Knuckles explained. "You might go there to see if they're still there."
"May I keep them?" She eagerly asked.
"Sure." Chief Knuckles calmly replied. "Just being me any cave crystals you find."
"Sure." She excitedly said but then recomposed herself like her father did after being just as excited as his son about having jiggly wiggly pudding for dessert. "I mean, it'll be my pleasure."
"Good." Chief Knuckles said and then called for Gnarly, who led Amber to the mines and gave her a pickaxe. She didn't feel it right for a Princess to do that sort of menial labor (or any other sort of menial labor, that's what Princesses have servants for) but decided not to say anything since she felt she's already taking too much for the little she's giving. Two hours later, she returned with a diamond, an emerald, a ruby and a cave crystal. Being true to her word and not caring about the crystals, she handed the crystal over. "Chief Knuckles, Sir, I know rubies weren't part of our deal but, May I keep it as well?" She sweetly asked.
"Of course." He replied. Chief Knuckles felt bad for Amber since she had all this trouble for three stones that didn't even glow.
Back at home, Princess Amber is welcomed by her father and her stepmother. "How was your morning with the trolls, Amber?" King Roland the Second asked.
"Profitable, Daddy." She excitedly replied.
"Miranda, do you know what Amber meant by that?" The King asked in confusion.
"I don't know but I'm sure Sofia can clarify it for us." Queen Miranda answered while figuring out Sofia had a clue to what Amber was up to.
