We Will
The life of a ninja is tough. No, it's more than tough. Actually, there's no word good enough to describe it.
Being a ninja changes a person. The change is sometimes so dramatic that the people who knew that person are shocked. Yet more and more innocent children arrive at the academy each day.
They smile, they laugh.
They joke, they play.
All the while oblivious of the world that awaits them after graduation.
As ninja we've lost the will to love, laugh, cry, smile, dance…
We live out our lives following a routine. Each and every one of us hides behind masks that have been carefully crafted over the years. We conceal past sins and the darkness within. We show no emotional attachment. We just do what we're supposed to do: be ninja.
We have seen so many horrors in out lives.
We have been witness to epic battles, watching our comrades get struck down by the enemy.
We have faced betrayal.
But nothing is affected greatly.
The sun still appears everyday. Flowers bloom and the seasons change. The natural flow of life continues. It's a new start every time we wake up.
We are reluctant to try. But I believe, as the Rokudaime Hokage, that we will one day live again.
We will love again.
We will laugh again.
We will cry again.
We will smile again.
We will dance again.
And we will enjoy what we have once more.
I know it. There's no doubt in my mind.
