Sup guys, Lighting Wolf here, back with another story, this one about Halo. Enjoy the 800-word chapter. I don't own Halo, 343 and Microsoft do.

(Requiem, March 2 2558)

All soldiers in Jul's Mdama Covenant fought knowing they walked a holy path, but some knew that Jul was a false prophet, that they were only cannon fodder.

The Storm Elite: Kivo 'Vuham, knew this for sure as he climbed to his feet.

He and dozens of Covenant were left to die on the planet, CRS- class Light Cruisers and RCS-Armored class cruisers left the planet, leaving their fellow Covenant to die.

"Mdama, you heretic…" Kivo hissed, no true believer in the Forerunners would leave one of their worlds to die. He would make sure Jul suffered for his crimes against their beliefs and for leaving their kin to die.

But first he needed to escape Requiem, and that required a ship, he holstered his Type-51 Covenant Carbine on his back and slid down the hill.

In front of him was a CRS-Class Light Cruiser, it would do until a better warship could be found. He slid down the hill and began to ran for the 300-meter cruiser.

He found 7 Storm Grunts and 5 Storm Elites like him in front of the cruiser.

"Why are you not aboard that cruiser? Requiem will be dying soon." Kivo hissed, one of the Grunts spoke up.

"Boss said guard cruiser for commander." The Storm Grunt said, Kivo clacked his mandibles and turned to one of the Storm Elites.

"Jul has betrayed us, we were expendable, he let those who didn't trust him and his beliefs to be killed when Requiem dies. He is a heretic, he would let the entire planet die just to finish our enemies." Kivo stated, he turned and quickly stepped onto the hull of the cruiser.

"You can execute me, or you can trust me, but we should do it in orbit, dying with Requiem is not a warrior's death." Kivo stated.

He looked at his fellow Covenant, they looked conflicted, but he knew his fellow Sangheili would trust him.

They did as they boarded the light cruiser, he climbed aboard as the other Elites began to power up systems.

The cruiser flew towards orbit and broke orbit before fleeing into slipspace. Kivo turned to see 2 of the Elites reaching for their Type-55 Storm Rifles.

"Now for judgement." The Elite hissed, Kivo quickly acted before kicking the Elite back before seizing the other one by the arm and tossing him into the small pit behind the console the Elite was at.

Kivo pointed his Carbine at the defeated Sangheili and planted his foot on his chest.

"No, we shouldn't fight, brother. Jul betrayed us, he is a heretic and tried to lead us to slaughter all to exterminate his enemies. I will kill, but if I must at this moment, it is to defend myself." Kivo stated, he turned to the other 3 Storm Elites.

"You know this is true, why would he have Song of Retribution flee the planet first along with his more loyal shipmasters? Why would he order our kin who didn't agree with his beliefs to stay behind to protect the relics? He betrayed us and he probably thinks we have been slain in combat." Kivo explained, he stepped off the Elite and put his carbine on his back.

"I believe in the Forerunners, they are real enough to walk among us. I do not believe in Jul's words, I wish to carve out a new Covenant, one that all true brothers among us walk the path." Kivo stated.

"So, what we do then?" One of the Grunts asked, Kivo turned to a console to put in commands.

"We take this cruiser and seek out those who share our beliefs, that trust us and know of Jul's heresy. We head to Karava and go from there, if we don't find reason to doubt the hand of the Didact? Then we return to his fleet and continue our path to glory. I ask only that you follow me on this one mission, and see what happens." Kivo said, he received no objection.

He looked at the name of the ship, Seeker of Contrition, it was a good name and the ship was his to command for now.

He looked at the first members of his new Covenant, he didn't even know it.

Author Note

Phew, first chapter done! Yes, I know it isn't perfect, first chapters aren't my thing! I got this idea after reading more on Jul and finding out some parts of his Covenant were used as cannon fodder to weed out the loyal. Next chapter will explain more on Kivo and show Contrition's arrival at Karava for followers. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
