The Howling's Love
Chapter One: Accidents happen
''Unit Howling, ready for launch, sir!''
''Ready the runway! Toboe, are you sure you can handle this?''
''Course I can! I'm a prodigy after all!''
The nine year smiled and saluted her father, giving him her usual goofy grin, a trademark for years to come. Her small hands grasped the controls in front of her, eyes set on the runway made just for her; without a second thought, she pushed the controls foreword and the giant beast took off.
The blackened skies went on forever, grasping everything in its path and engulfing it in utter darkness. A normal human may have feared the darkness, however, Toboe was not human, she was a wolf, yet for now, she was a pup. Scrawny, thin, and bordering between the line of male and female were several ways to describe the young girl. Toboe was more than that-she was a prodigy, the only child her father ever had; she was after all the commander's daughter.
''Toboe, look out!''
She never saw it coming, it attacked her on all sides and by the time they managed to rush her to a nearby hospital, the doctors had already confirmed the worst-her legs were shattered. Broken beyond repair. Repairing them would be pointless, it would only mean amputation.
Cher,
Please don't be upset with me today. I know I haven't been up to date with my lessons, but I will make them up-I just need some time to think. Please give father my best wishes. –Toboe
''This is the third time this week, Toboe. You're going to be too far behind in class.'' Cher said, rather annoyed. Quickly, she began to rub her temples, pushing the headache back towards the farthest reaches of her mind.
''Hey, Cher, how's about some dinner?'' Hub chimed, poking his head in the door.
Cher began to rub her temples harder, silently cursing the spiritual being that loved to see her suffer so.
The brown eyes hinted with amber stared out the window, hands clutching the imitation leather armrests, nails digging into the leather. Sighing, she wheeled away from the window, disgusted with the sights of Earth. It had been nearly two weeks that they had landed in Freeze City.
Toboe sighed, every time, they landed in a new city, it was always the same routine-go to the Academy, scoop out the best of the best, test them for two weeks and then bring them into battle. Toboe noted that for every ten people bought upon the ship, two came back alive. Toboe had been the luckier one.
'Lucky me to be stuck in a wheel chair while the rest of the world goes off and dances on two feet. Screw them all.' She though bitterly.
''So, these are the only students to pass my exams?''
''Yes, Sir!''
''Very well, gentlemen and woman state your names!''
''Kiba.''
''Hige.''
''Blue.''
''Tsume.''
'So, this is Hayate's son………how nice to meet you again, Tsume.'
The commander smiled, observing his new crew with interest.
