The four teens stood up from the wreckage of CADMUS.
They'd gone in to investigate when a fire had broken out. What they'd found was an underground civilization- and a clone of Superman.
No, that wasn't quite right. The boy looked like Superman, but was really 4 months old. He looked 16 years old, though.
And there was the little thing of half the boy's DNA being human. The human donor? None other than Lex Luthor, Superman's worst enemy.
All that ran through the teens' minds when they looked toward the starry sky- and saw the Justice League descend toward them.
Green Lantern descended first, carrying Aquaman, Flash, and Batman. The three looked upon their respective mentors.
"Well," Batman said, his voice low and menacing. 'What do you have to say for yourselves?"
"Quite a lot," was the response from Aqualad. "I am serious."
"You directly disobeyed orders, destroyed a government facility, and for what?" Batman said, anger seeping into his voice.
"We wanted to investigate," Robin answered. "What- or rather, who- we found is quite interesting.
It was then that the boy shoved his way forward, having seen Superman descend from the sky. The Man of Steel- and his clone- locked eyes for several moments. Superman was stunned. He had so many questions. However, the one that stood out the most was, How do I help this boy?
Superman's parents had drilled it into him time after time after time- help others, even when it hurts, even when you don't want to or don't know what to do.
Superman made up his mind then. The boy was here, and needed training. From the looks of it, he'd done well. Perhaps with time, the boy could control his powers- and take up the mantle of Superman.
Superman held out his hand. "So," he asked his clone, "want to be a hero?"
The boy's face lit up as though it were a Christmas tree. "Yes."
