"Peter!"
"Ah! What is it?" Peter scowled as he hurried to right the inkwell but he could already see that he hadn't been fast enough to save the note. "Edmund. What is it?"
His brother opened his mouth then smirked as he peered at what little could be made out from the spilled ink. "Are you trying to write poetry again? I was hoping you would stop now that you've married Thalia."
"I'll have you know that Thalia really enjoys it when I write a few lines for her."
Edmund snorted. "Like she enjoys your cooking."
"She does!" Peter blotted at the mess with a handkerchief. "What did you come bursting in here for anyway? And it had better be important."
"Tarrin kissed Lucy."
"What?" He didn't even remember grabbing Rhindon but the hilt was beneath his fingers as he marched around his desk, spilled ink and ruined note forgotten. "When did this happen? Where were you? Where was her guard? Where is Tarrin?"
"Yesterday on the eastern balcony. I was with Susan looking for the birthday girl. Her guard was stationed outside the room. I'm pretty sure he's hiding and wishing I wasn't going to tell you. Or that he hadn't kissed our sister."
"He kissed Lucy!" Peter shook his head. "I trusted him! And he kissed my sister!"
"Our sister and yes he kissed her."
Peter narrowed his eyes. Edmund was being remarkably calm. "Did he actually kiss her?"
"Yes."
"Then why aren't you upset?"
"You left training too early."
Peter's brow furrowed. "What does that mean?"
Edmund smirked. "I invited Tarrin to a private sparring match after you left and when Oreius was out of earshot. During this match, I made it clear what would happen if he ever kissed Lucy again and if it wasn't an accident as he claims this one was. Then I recommended that he hide himself until tomorrow because I was going to have to inform you of what happened." Edmund's eyes flicked to Rhindon and the smirk grew. "For his sake, I hope he has taken my words to heart."
Peter scowled. "He kissed my sister yesterday and you didn't tell me until now?"
"Our sister. And Susan made me promise not to tell you until today."
"What?" Storming out of his study, Peter caught sight of a Faun. "Master Tumnus! Know you where Sir Delos is this day?"
Mr. Tumnus started then cast a questioning look to Peter's right, no doubt looking at Edmund. "Forgive me, Sire, but I believe I saw Sir Delos leave the Cair just before noon with one of the patrols." Peter clenched Rhindon tighter and Mr. Tumnus fiddled nervously with his blue scarf then hesitantly asked, "Is something wrong, Your Majesties?"
His fury foiled for the moment, Peter spun on his heel and marched back into his study. Edmund chuckled. "It's nothing of import, Mr. Tumnus. Peter's just having some…growing pains."
"Oh dear. Is he going to get even taller?"
