I thought of this when Sasuke said that everything Itachi lived for would be pointless if he dies. I thought that too.

Itachi watched, wide-eyed, from the heavens as Madara stabbed Sasuke in the chest with his own sword. He gasped.
'No. It can't be!'
Sasuke can't die! Everything Itachi worked for, LIVED for, would be pointless. All the suffering and pain, pointless.
Itachi fell to his knees, shaking, tears streaming from his eyes as Sasuke spit out blood. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't take his eyes of the horrid scene.
Sasuke was going to die...
And he couldn't do anything about it.
Sorry about the depressing ending! But they never say if he lives or not so...
