Traditions
~oOo~
"Momma, Momma!" my daughter's voice cried out as I felt her shake me awake.
Unfortunately, Sophie took after her father and had been an early riser her entire seven years of life. Thankfully, four-year-old Ricky was much more my child than Ranger's and absolutely loved sleeping in.
"Mmm, Sophie, it's too early. Come back in two hours," I mumbled into my pillow.
"But Momma, Papa said it's tradition. It's the Thanksgiving Day parade! Ya gotta get up!"
"Okay, okay, I'm up. Go tell your father he's a cruel man."
Lord knows there are better ways to wake up than a seven-year-old bouncing on my bed, I thought to myself. Of course, I wouldn't have it any other way.
