AN: My first TT romance story. Sorry for the large amounts of angst. Anyway, enjoy, and without further ado-

Slowly Going Mad

He was just trying to help her, he thought. He was just trying to make it okay. He wanted her to feel that dream again. He wanted her to have a friend again.

But what was he really doing? He wanted her back to himself.

Beast Boy walked to the edge of the lake around Titan's Tower. The villain was defeated and everyone else was celebrating, too relieved to care. They didn't see.

He let himself drop a few tears. He was only trying to help! But help was small and far between for Terra. Nobody really knew what to do with her.

But he had. He had given her a home and a friend and someone to depend on. He hadn't hurt her, so why did she act like it?

A sideways glance at the city. It was so perfect. You could see the beautiful skyline and the people smiling about.

A sideways glance at the city made Beast Boy think he saw her.

He wondered what she was thinking.

Her blonde hair and blue eyes; her rugged hands and bright smile. She had hurt him, and she knew it. But she wanted it to be okay again.

She knew of the good she did in the end. And when she looked at it then, with the Titans, with her friends, it looked okay. But she knew it wasn't.

She would hurt him again, and she knew that. She would hurt everyone. Even if she still had powers, she would hurt more than help.

That was always the way it was.

She walked down the street like she used to, except now others stood by her side, not friends. They were just her way of making it all seem normal.

She thought she deserved a second chance, and she got one. She had taken it.

But everything comes with a cost.

A sideways glance at the Tower. A look at her old home. It was friendly and laughing and carefree, but she hadn't felt right in it. She had told him. Nothing had been as he remembered.

A sideways glance at the Tower made her think she saw Beast Boy on the rocks, his face dropped, water pooling in his eyes. She kept walking.

And she wasn't the only one being selfish. He was too. He wanted her back, and he didn't even think about how much it had hurt her. He didn't understand what it had cost her to live like that. She wanted away, and would take anything as her chance to be normal. All she had ever wanted was to fit in. And sometimes Terra wished she had never even met them, but then she wouldn't be normal now, although she was still hurt.

But just thinking about it all confused both of them. Voices screamed in their heads, yelling their opinions out until nothing was certain. So there they were, stuck glancing sideways at the real world, slowly going mad about each other.
