A/n – this is a M&MWP.
The Queen of Hearts deserves the
King of Spades.
And, sweetheart, you know you're no
Queen of Hearts.
You don't shine in the spotlight.
You don't command the will of people.
You're nowhere near perfect like she is.
But most of all, you're not her,
not now, not ever.
And yet, you can't help but be mesmerized
by the King of Spades.
His cold, authoritative manner
has you {secretly} hoping that he'll notice you.
(You really shouldn't be thinking like that,
young Queen of Diamonds;
not when you have the Jack of Hearts at home)
So you attend his parties,
hoping he'll turn his graygray eyes on you,
just for the briefest /m/o/m/e/n/t/.
But he never does.
He's always staring at his Queen of Hearts,
with her long blonde hair and blueblue eyes.
(You'll never compare with dark skin and even darker eyes)
But smile your best (:smile:)
and dance little Queen of Diamonds, dance.
Would you look at that?
Everyone's noticing you;
they're hypnotized by your movements.
And still, the only person you care about impressing is
that damned King of Spades.
His graygray eyes are focused solely on you
as you dance little Queen of Diamonds, dance.
Yet, you don't feel anything
like you expected you would.
Your heart doesn't skip a b ea t
and you can think {clearly}.
So you realize it doesn't matter that
you held his attention for the a few short |s|e|c|o|n|d|s|,
because you've got the Jack of Hearts at home
and that's all the love you need.
So, the King of Spades can keep his Queen of Hearts,
just as long as you can keep your Jack of Hearts.

So my plot bunnies would rest until I wrote something with "Queen of Diamonds" in it. To make them happy, I decided to look up the meaning behind the cards.
Queen of Diamonds – Organized, efficient women that's practical and ambitious.
Queen of Hearts – Love and home-oriented, supportive and not self-ambitious.
King of Spades – Authoritarian, cold, logical, stubborn, and possibly ruthless.
Jack of Hearts – Immature, impractical, kind but unrealistic.
