"Oh Bill, it's beautiful..."
The long silky emerald gown was pulled from the box that contained it by two shaking hands-- one of which had a small golden wedding band wrapped around the slender ring finger. She was the wife of a pirate, therefore rarely received gifts of such high quality. "But what's the occasion..?" The soft voice inquired as Eleanor Turner hugged the fashionable corset to her chest, seeing how it would fit about her form. The young woman had recently given birth to a healthy little boy, after all.
Her dear sweet William...
"No occasion, Elly. I just wanted to see you happy." The man with long black hair responded, offering his wife a smile that hid obvious sadness in his expression. "Would you like to try it on?" He was William. Or.. More commonly known as "Bootstrap" Bill Turner. A pirate. And one that had fallen in love with the sea, at that. Eleanor could tell instantly by the look on his face that this was going to be the day...
The last day she'd ever see him.
'This is no surprise... Right?' She insisted herself. Afterall, she had known he'd leave some day for quite a while... After overhearing him talking to the Captain of the ship he worked upon about sailing off to see the world, to sail all the seven seas and back again. It was a thought she truly dreaded.
"Yes...Yes, I'll go do that." Eleanor whispered into the collar of the gown, turning her head downward to avoid the watchful gray eyes of the man she loved. Those sapphire blue eyes filled with tears as she stared at the dress in her hands. This horrible thing that showed for sure he was leaving. But as she moved to go, she was pulled back by two strong arms into an embrace. It was obvious she'd found out... Even though he'd tried to hide it. But he just wished he could see her beautiful smiling face, just one more time.
"I'm sorry, Elly. But I just wanted to make you happy before I left. I can't stay here..." He mumbled in a worried tone as the sorrowful tears of his wife soon became apparent against his chest. "...Tell William I love him, okay?"
And he disappeared into the night. Eleanor left alone crying on the floor of their rugged house with the gown hugged to her. That dreadful gown, with the unwanted meaning.
Such a lovely gift... Which was only worn once, the day she took her last breath of life.
