'Father?'

'Yes, I am your father.'

It was as if the whole universe stood still in this moment.

Life was repeating itself. A father and child, separated by fate, reunited.
Reunited in Light - not Darkness.

'Will you take this?
Will you return with me and help us?'
The look on her face was so intense.
She was processing what had just been revealed.
At the same time, she was still moving ahead with her mission.
She needed to convince Luke Skywalker to return to the world.
Luke Skywalker who had seemed to be a figure of myth and legend.
Luke Skywalker who stood before her now - a very real man. Her father.
Rey stood silent, still holding out the lightsaber to him.
And gradually the immensity of the truth, that had just been revealed, sank in.

Luke could see all of this in his child's eyes.
The emotions and realizations - the stillness of being at the centre of this storm.
He stepped forward very slowly extending his human hand to wrap her fingers around the hilt of the saber once more.

'It is yours to keep. I have my own. This one called you.
It was mine and my father's before me. It also belonged to your mother before you.'

He could feel her fingers close tightly under his.
Out of the stillness in the centre of her being arose one sobbing cry: 'why?'

He enfolded her in his arms.
There was a fraction of hesitation, resistance to this closeness, then Rey melted into his arms. Here was everything she had craved since being abandoned as a child. Warmth, safety, security and, above all, absolute love.

She could feel the depth of his pain and his regret - of the loss he too had had to live with all these years, but above all was this unbelievable love and the intensity of Light that was his true being. It shone through her and filled her with warmth.

There was so much that needed to be said.
But for now, it was enough to just stand there enfolded in his arms.

Father and daughter reunited.
