Dashie, Don't Cry

No one noticed the small winged girl sitting in the corner as Dashie did her show; Completely normal. What was unusual was the book the girl held, pink with a yellow lining, matching Fluttershy's hair. Her black ball-point pen moving endlessly, scratching the paper almost noiselessly. The crowds had gone, dispersed.

Everything was normal in that small room, the dim light of the overhead lamps, the high ceiling and the broken glass windows. Fluttershy had tucked the book and the pen away, into a back pocket of her backpack no one would think to look, and steadily approached the girl, sitting on the floor, in the darkness the old lights could not reach. Fluttershy watched as Rainbow dash pulled out a small bottle, and chugged it in an instant.

"Whadayou want?" The inebriated girl asked, through slurred breath. A sad sight, sitting cross legged in the middle of a stage, drinking her life away. Fluttershy always wondered why they would say, 'Drink responsibly,' something no one would ever do. Dashie's dull, slightly coloured rainbow hair hung over her eyes, but Fluttershy could swear that she was crying.

"I wanted to talk to you, Dashie." It had been so long since Fluttershy had spoken that name. That name barely anyone remembered.

"Well, you came to the right place." The gray girl said, chucking sadly. She pulled out another bottle, and Fluttershy snatched it from her.

"Give me the drink." Rainbow said, without even looking up. Fluttershy gulped, but held it away from her. Rainbow turned and glared at her.

"Give me the drink!" She said again, louder. Fluttershy felt her knees beginning to buckle, but continued to hold her ground.

"Give me the fucking drink!" Rainbow dash yelled, and leapt at her. However, her movements were sluggish, and her flight was rusty, and FLuttershy dropped the bottle. It feel five feet, and despite Rainbow Dash's desperate attempts to save it, it shattered spilling all over the floor.

"Bitch!" Dashie yelled, and punched fluttershy in the nose. Fluttershy toppled backwards, landing on her back. Her backpack spilled over the floor, papers soaking in the alcohol. Fluttershy began to cry, and despite the cloud of beer that clogged Dashie's vision, the sound took her back, brought back memories, before the strip club, before the break-up, before the drinking. All of it flooded to her, and a single tear rolled down her face, and fell to the floor at Fluttershy's feet. Fluttershy got up, and hugged Rainbow Dash close to her.

"Stop! Please, don't hurt yourself again." Fluttershy managed between gulps and sobs. Rainbow dash looked down at Fluttershy, whose head was resting on her shoulder. She always thought of others, never considering herself. She had looked past the bruises on her eyes, and saw the bruises on Dash's heart, the scars left by Applejack.

"Aw, sugarcube, don't be sad. I'll probably come back as an apple tree or somethin'." Was the last thing Applejack had said to Dash, the last thing she had said to anyone. Fluttershy knew that it had ripped Rainbow's heart out. That she had blamed herself for not saving Applejack first. For not putting out the fire. And the drinking had evolved from that. The horrible drinking.

Rainbow Dash remembered all that. She took the last bottle out of her bag. Fluttershy winced, but rainbow dash threw it at the wall behind her. Fluttershy smiled.

"I love you Dashie."

"I love you too." And Rainbow could feel, somewhere, a new apple grew on a brand new apple tree
