In her Last Moments
Her boys… they were going to kill each other with the way they were going. Naruto had the Rasengan in his hand and Sasuke the Chidori.
The battle wasn't supposed to escalate this far. Naruto was supposed to beat some sense into Sasuke and then come home and become Hokage. He had come so far. From being the dobe that everyone looked down on to someone everyone wanted to be like. And Sasuke the one true love of her life, he was supposed to come home and stand by Naruto's side becoming the Hokages right hand man. No this was all wrong they were a team, a family. How could their family be complete if there was only her and Kakashi sensei left and Naruto and Sasuke buried 10 feet up the ground.
'It is a fitting battle ground' she thought. After all this was where the First Hokage and Madra had their last battle and they were best friends turned enemies just like Naruto and Sasuke. The Valley of the End it was called. This was the place where everything ended and the valley which soon would claim the lives of two of the most important people in her life.
Naruto and Sasuke started to run towards each other with their justus crackling with life. In a splits moments decision a strangled scream erupted from her mouth.
"No! Don't" she yelled running to where their jutus were about to meet but her warning was heard a second too late. Sasuke's Chidori made a gapping hole through her heart and Naruto's Rasengan burnt through a hole in her stomach.
"Sakura!" both Naruto and Sasuke yelled in anguish. Sakura's lip' made slight smile with her deep red blood trickling down from the corner of her lips as if it was taunting them. Her blood painted her creamy white skin.
Together forgetting their differences for just that moment they laid her gently on the grass and knelt on either side of her. Sasuke brushed her hair away from her face as she continued to cough up, struggling to stay alive; there was only once question on his lips.
"Why?" he whispered his brown eyes filled with unreadable emotions.
"I … I couldn't let you kill each other. You used to be best friends, and I love you both too much to have let that happen to the both of you" she managed to say before she took her last breath. With tears in his eyes, Naruto closed Sakura's eyes which were no longer sparkling with life. Sasuke leaned over her body and tenderly kissed her lips before he broke down crying.
"This has gone on for long enough" Naruto said wiping his tears away looking down at Sakura's body, "it had already claimed the life of someone we both love". Naruto held up his hand over Sakura's body and Sasuke shook his hand.
Together they carried Sakura's dead body were they retold the story of Sakura's death and the girl who was forever overshadowed by her legendary teammates became the true hero of the story. The one that was forever forgotten even by history was the true hero whose death managed to reunite two best friends lost in a sea of hatred.
