Authors/Notes

Severus: "I still can't believe your going to try and put this up. It's so-"

Lillyin: "Embarrassing?"

Sev: "Yes. Let me finish my own thoughts! I find it very annoying to have half-sentences."

Lillyin: "Even more than you were when Harry found out that you forged James's handwriting to write love-notes to Lily?"

Sev: "Lillyin! The readers! You said you wouldn't-"

Lillyin: "Did I? Oh my, I think I did."

Sev: "Let them read our account already. Beside that, we have to go peel Hrathen off the Telly; I am afraid the fellow will forget how to have intelligent conversation if he is on there much longer."

Lillyin: "Hrathen? Forget? Severus the day he forgets anything is the end of the world."

*Door opens* Pansy Lily: "Mummy the biscuits are burning!"

Lillyin: "My biscuits never burn Pansy Lily Snape! but we should check them shouldn't we?"

"The male tribute for District 7 in the seventy-forth annual Hunger Games is... Severus Snape!"

Severus Snape opened his eyes, confused. He was standing in a roped off area with children, the eldest of which could be no older than eighteen. Everyone was staring at him and the person who had just read his name, who was looking over the croud

He wasn't sure what to do. No one else seemed to know either.

Finally one of the boys nearest him pushed him towards the front.

"Severus Snape? Who is he? Where did he come from?" People whispered as he walked up to the stage.

Severus knew he was in trouble. For some reason this was NOT how he had imagined he would arrive in an alternate dimension- let alone as a sacrifice to keep the government of said dimension in power.

He was doomed. 'They couldn't have used a different book to transport me into? For example, one I'd read completely?' He thought watching the crowd as the apparent leader of this "district" read a long and gruesome story of how "Panem", as it was called, was created from the ashes of North America.

When he was done they were all dismissed.

Severus was escorted inside the building behind him. He was visited by a woman who had been chosen years before. They talked rather freely, about him mostly.

Brownie, as the woman called herself told him about the Games and he explained that he was a wizard.

"You can take one thing into the arena if you hide it well." She said, her sun-baked skin wrinkled around her eyes in concentration. "Your wand should be easily concealed."

"What about the other tribute, the girl?"

"She is probably not going to have any advantage, never having trained with any sort of weapon. You on the other hand will have much in store. Don't show anyone what you have."

"I won't." Severus paused, the door had opened and the guards were beckoning to the woman. She rose from the chair she had been occupying.

"Good-bye Severus." She waved. "May the odds be in your favor."
