Daniel woke up in a cold sweat, it was that dream again, he realized. When he closed his eyes he could picture that night, he woke to two loud bangs and his sister screaming, gunshots, he realized. He jumped out of his window and ran.
That was a week ago, seven days, one hundred and sixty eight hours. He shook his head, his brain was full of facts like that, stuff just worked itself out in his brain. Then he realized he wasn't in the care home anymore, he was in a bigger room, there was only one bed, and it was clean. He got out of bed and walked over to the window, when he pulled open the blinds he saw a couple of sports fields, with kids playing soccer and field hockey on them. Then he went over to the closet and found an orange t-shirt with a weird logo on it, kind of a baby on a globe, a pair of cool pants, and some boots.
He put them on and walked out into the hallway where he saw a couple other kids. "can you help me?"
"Can't talk to orange," they both said. But one of them pointed at the elevator down the hall and held up two fingers. Daniel walked to the elevator and pressed floor two. when he walked out he saw an office that said chairman and went inside.
"hello Daniel'" the secratary said brightly, "just go through the door to your right."
"thanks'" Daniel said and knocked on the door.
"come in" a voice said and Daniel walked into the room.
"Hello Daniel, Im Dr. McAfferty but you can call me Mac, everyone does." "Hi Mac" said Daniel, "what is this place? where am I? And whats whith the uniform? is this like a millitary school?" "no," Mac said, "you're on CHERUB campus. were a divison of the British goverment and we train special kids, like you, to become intelligence agents." "what like spies?" Daniel said "you train kids to be spies?' he asked incredulousl "seriously?"
"yes" said Mac
"And im guessing since im here you want me to be a spy too," said Daniel
"yes," said Mac "but only if you want to."
"well, i have nowhere else to go," said Daniel "so i want to do it."
"Ok, Great," said Mac "but since you're older youll have to pass some tests, but you should do fine."
"what type of tests?" Daniel asked
"Youll see said Mac.
