Comforting Cassie

Gabriel sat and watched the little fledglings once again. When he first got there he was actually shocked to find little Castiel interacting with another fledgling. He watched in amusement as Castiel tried to talk to Balthazar about something he found very interesting. He couldn't help but laugh at the annoyed and bored look on Balthazar's face. That little guy just wouldn't give up though.

Gabriel flew down to join two of his favorite little brothers. Balthazar let out a sigh of relief when Castiel went quiet at the sight of Gabriel.

"Gabey!" The little fledgling wrapped his arms around Gabriel. Gabriel shot Balthazar a glare as he laughed at the situation. Castiel released Gabriel with a huge grin on his face. "I was telling Balfie about all da pwetty flowers you taught me 'bout."

"I'm sure Balfie loved hearing about them." Gabriel smirked at Balthazar. "But I thought you were going to practice flying today with the others?"

Little Castiel looked down at the ground. Gabriel looked at the older of the two fledglings wanting to know what had happened.

"He fell a couple of times and Zachariah told him he wouldn't be able to fly with little wings like that. Of course Uriel laughed at that, which made Cas here upset. He came down here and started to cry –"

"I wasn't cwying Balfie!"

"All right, he didn't cry. But he looked upset so I came to see what was wrong. Hence the reason I got to hear about all the pretty flowers."

Gabriel looked back down at Castiel who looked like he was on the verge of tears again. He gave the little fledgling a soft smile. He bent down so that he was eye level with the little angel.

"Don't listen to them Cassie. Zachie and Urinal are just jealous of you."

The fledgling looked at Gabriel confused as Balthazar let out a little snicker at the names Gabe used.

"Why would dey be jealous of me?"

"Cuz. You get to hang out with me all the time and they don't get to hang out with any of us archangels. That and you're wings are so much cooler than their's."

Castiel's smile was the biggest Gabriel had ever seen. "Weally?"

"Yep. I mean, their wings are disgusting brown and grey. Yours are black, but you can see all the colors in them in the light. Trust me kid."

Gabriel let out an 'oof' as the little angel fluttered up and rammed into him for a hug.

"Tanks Gabey."

Gabriel smiled. "No problem Cassie. Now why don't you go practice."

"Otay." Little Castiel started to flutter off.

"And Cassie-" Castiel looked back at Gabriel. "Tell Zachie and Urinal to come talk to me if they start picking on you again."

The fledgling nodded and went to join the others. Gabriel just sighed and watched him fly away.

"He's going to be very important someday isn't he?" Balthazar asked.

"Yep. And so are you." Gabriel looked at Balth. "Why don't you go make sure they don't give him any trouble?"

Balth rolled his eyes. "As long as he doesn't talk about the flowers again…"

Gabriel chuckled as he watched his other brother flutter off. He loved his family.
