This is my first Doctor Who Fanfiction. I hope you guys like it. I really hope it doesn't suck.
We watched the TARDIS fade into the landscape. I no longer saw the blue little box, instead only the grey sky becoming evening time. He squeezed my hand tightly.
"He needs you. That's very me."
I couldn't cry any more tears. There were none left. My Doctor was gone, but yet he was standing right beside me, holding my hand and tugging me along like always. His hands were still bigger than mine; calloused and worn. Our fingers still interlocked and fit perfectly just like they always did. It didn't feel real though. None of it did. The Doctor was here and human and looking at me with that gleam in his eyes. His eyes were always sparkling. Even in the Shoppe basement with the plastic people, he was thrilled and waiting for the excitement.
Over time I'd been exposed to enough paradoxes and alternate timelines. I mean, I was living in one, but it was mind blowing to have him here but also far off somewhere saving the universe. I couldn't believe it.
Mum had to call Pete to try and get a ride. We'd be stuck at the beach for a while. The two of us watched her wander off to look for a signal. We were left alone. It felt like the first time all over again.
"So what would you like to do first?" I asked him once we were settled in the sand far away from mum and the water's edge.
"Oh I don't know, Rose Tyler. Maybe some tea? Talk about what's changed since I've last been in this timeline." The Doctor was leaning back, his elbows locked and palms flat on the sand. His ankles were crossed and he kept a constant beat tapping in his toes. He was jittery. "We can do whatever ya like." He flashed me a charming grin.
I couldn't help but smile. "Tea, yeah of course." My fingers played in the sand. "I'll have to show you around Pete's house. It's huge! Very big on the outside too. And there's plenty of the city to see..."
Pete was very kind to let us live with him. But I must admit it was getting a little crazy at home. Pete usually was off at his job and with baby Tony bouncing about Mum was losing her mind. She loved it though.
I had taken a job at Torchwood but now with The Doctor here I wasn't sure what would happen next. Would he come to work with me? Actually settle down and live with me, Tony, Mum and Pete or would he disappear?
"So what's the plan after tea?"
"You know me, Rose, I never really have a plan. I surprise myself."
"I know, but would you stay with us? Settle down?" My mind flashed to the time we made a pit stop on the ship orbiting around that black hole. I remembered The Doctor saying he'd never settle down.
"I promised you I'd stay as long as you want me around. I'll be here." He patted my knee but after a tap or two his fingers lingered. Again I was staring at him. He looked down at his hand and then up at me. "I'd be honored to stay."
I reached over and kissed him lightly on the cheek. The Doctor's face turned a little pink. I laughed.
"Rose!" Mum shouted across the beach. "Pete's going to be here! Hurry up!" I watched her wave her arms about. Her mobile glinted in the fading sunlight.
I turned back to the The Doctor who cleared his throat and hopped up on his feet. He extended his hand toward me with a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Ready for another adventure, Rose Tyler?"
