It was a quiet afternoon which found our favourite two females on the couch. Asami's eyes scanned the pages of the manual for her newest Satomobile, while Korra slept, her head lying in the dark-haired girl's lap.
The front door opened and closed before someone called out. "Asami? Korra? Bolin?"
"In here," Asami called back, placing her manual aside.
Two of her room-mates soon appeared in the doorway. Wu gave her a large smile as he threw himself into a chair, while Mako leaned against the door frame.
"How was your day at the zoo?" Asami asked.
Mako grunted while Wu beamed. "We had an amazing time. Wake up Korra and where's Bolin? I want to tell all of you what happened at the same time."
"Bolin is out with Opal," Asami said as she rubbed her girlfriend's shoulder.
Wu frowned then waved his hand. "Well then, he'll just have to hear the news second-hand. So guess what?"
"What?" Korra asked, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.
"I can talk to badgermoles!" Wu cried, barely able to stay in his seat.
Mako rolled his eyes, while Asami and Korra just blinked.
"Now I know what you're thinking," Wu said, holding up a finger. "I'm already so talented, so how did I add another to my list? Well, Mako and I were walking when we stopped in front of the badgermoles enclosure. He had just bought me a blueberry snowcone, and you know what blueberry does to me."
Korra and Asami giggled as Mako's cheeks turned red.
"So, I began to sing about my love of blueberries, snowcones, Mako. Everyone was staring at us in awe, some of them were even shouting, but I couldn't stop. I had to sing."
"Then, the badgermoles came closer to us. I heroically stood between Mako and large animals," Wu said, jumping to his feet and sticking out his chest.
"You cowered behind me and screamed like a girl," Mako interrupted.
"Heroically..." Wu said. "But, instead of attacking, the badgermoles began to watch me."
"Aren't badgermoles blind?" Korra asked.
"They watched me with sightless eyes, waiting. Then I realized they wanted me to sing some more, so I did. Certain words I said made them do things. One even brought me another snowcone."
"Upstaged by a overgrown rat," Mako muttered.
"And that's the story of how I learnt I can talk to badgermoles," Wu ended with a grin. Then he grabbed Mako's hand and said, "Come, we have to tell more people."
The door opened and closed once more, leaving the two girls alone.
"They're both such dorks," Asami said.
Korra smiled. "But they're our dorks."
